Big Government : United States of Greece: The Countdown

I have been amamzed at how many "half-days" California schools have. When I was a kid I would have sold my eye teeth for a half-day. 20 half-days on my childs 2009-2010 calender. All these half-days have to be made up by forcing the kids to take their school work home with them. I never had as much homework as my kids; perhaps it would have done me some good. Maybe I could have been a lawyer instead of a rocket scientist. The point is we pay these California teachers a heck of a lot. The least they could do is have the kids learn arithmetic at school rather than sending them home to learn from their dumb-ass parents, like me.

: Dodging a Missile

Give Paul a break; I watched the video and it sure looked like a missile to me. I'm not a contrail expert but my understanding is that a jet liner will vaporize moisture thru each engine which should leave multiple vapor trails. I know vapor trails can merge but what I saw was one single trail which could have been from a single source or conceivable from a jet liner very far away. It all depends on hte distance. The contrail looked pretty big so my initial reaction would be to say it was close.

Big Government : Is George Bush a Better Leader Than Barack Obama?

Thank God for George W. He may have had problems spitting out the words but his actions spoke very clear. He is a great American and I was proud to call him president. I look forward to the book and will give them out as Christmas gifts. During the 2008 election when I really wanted to piss off my liberal friends I would emphaticlly declare "damn, I wish George W could run for a third term" It was a good way to end a stupid politcal conversation.

CO2 irradiance heat transfer is fairly complex which places most people at the mercy of "experts" like those at NASA. At first glance the "global warming" theory seems reasonable, even for people with a science background. The supposed scientific consensus supports itself becuase no one wants to be the one who questions the consensus.

Big Journalism : Olbermann Suspended from MSNBC Indefinitely

Olbermann was a televised bowel movement but he shouldn't have been fired based solely on his political donations. It was so overtly obvious that Olbermann was a commie liberal spokesman and apologist that anyone who ever watched him could not possibly be under the illusion that he was an objective unbiased commentator. We should all be allowed to waste as much money donating to anyone we see fit. Spending money is a component of free speech. There were of course a hundred other reasons to fire him. He really sucked.

Big Government : Dem Pollster: Obama Needs Another Oklahoma City Bombing to Reconnect

Never let a crisis go to waste, ecspecially if it can improve your poll numbers. Despicable. The Oklahoma City investigation never sat right with me. Too many unanswered connections to Iraq and Al Queda. I also never saw a death penalty sentence transpire so quickly. McVeigh deserved to die but he could have answered a heck of a lot of questions before going. http://www.jaynadavis.com/highlights.html http://rohrabacher.house.gov/UploadedFiles/Chairm...

You are off-topic Richard. I respect the fact that you do not post annonymously. Good man. The reality is Rubio was elected Senator, an arm of Congress still controlled by the democrats. He alone cant do much other than vote up or down what comes next. I dont know what Rubio is going to do, I'm stuck in California. I myself wouldn't know "precisely" what to do and I doubt anyone does for certain. I do know that sticking to free market principles with oversight regarding fair play creates the best outcomes. To get out of this mess we should rely on case history. http://www.econ.ucla.edu/people/papers/Ohanian/Oh...

Big Government : All of Your Money Belongs to the State

The jurisdiction of the 9th circuit court of appeals is fairly large; Alaska, Arizona, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon and Washington as well as my looney state of California. I'm very sorry but its the influence and proximity of the population of my state that makes the 9th circuit bizarre. It would be a benefit to future generations if the 9th circuit were split-up. http://blogs.wsj.com/law/2006/03/23/the-ninth-cir... http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=s11...

It's a theory, I don't buy it. I know there is evidecne to support it; J.Edgar believed it, but from my perspective it gives too much credit to FDR. It presumes FDR and his cult were clever enough to manipulate such a widespread conspiracy against Japan as well as teh people of the Untied States. From what I read of FDR he was clueless, a great talker but clueless. The more likely scenario is that the largess government as any unproductive beaurocracy despite being run by brilliant people was as a whole "inept". There were warning signs of pending Japanese attacks but these now tell-tale signs like warnings of 9-11 were buried in red-tape.
