When did the Gazette become a public relations mouthpiece for the Kernels? This isn't news. This isn't informative. It's fluff.

The paper's Kernels coverage has been beyond disappointing all season long. It would be nice to read actual news about the games and players as opposed to worthless drivel like this.

If they charge $10 to $20 per person for cover and the majority of that money goes toward security those guys must have one heck of an hourly wage. Do the math. The majority of those cover charges go in the pocket of the bar owners as straight profit - and that's why they're crying. Their 'extra' revenue has dried up.

Iowa City made its own bed and slept in it for quite a while before realizing the sheets needed to be washed. Allowing minors into bars was a bad idea from the get-go. Now that it's being corrected, there are new problems to deal with.

But the bar owners are just as implicit in all this. They've made their living off of looking the other way to underage drinking for years. Anyone who thinks otherwise is an idiot or the owner of one of those bars.
