West Ham Till I Die : Lies, Damn Lies and Hammers Storylines?

Well, it's certainly astonishing that supporters actually even acknowledge the 'stories' in the papers and that anyone would consider it worth posting on a blog. The media have enjoyed a good round of West Ham bashing for many years now and I really don't consider it worth wasting my time reading. The vast majority of us don't genuinely know what's going on behind the scenes at the club, so all we can really do is ignore all the speculation and wait to see how it all pans out. Besides, I'm pretty certain that even if complete disaster did strike the club, there's enough genuine supporters out there to help pick up the pieces. One problem caused by all this rubbish from the media is that a lot of supporters have had their hopes and expectations risen in regards to signing star players. The fact is, we're the same West Ham as ever; not entirely broke, but still having to keep an eye on our pennies and needing to look to the youth team for our talent. That's just the West Ham way of doing things. Our most successful sides have never come from buying in the best. As for relegation and the manager losing his job, well I don't think either of those is in danger of happening. However, we've been relegated enough times before and we always make our way back up. That's just part of football and something you have to take on the chin. The fact is, regardless of what the papers say, regardless of what happens in our season, we'll still be West Ham and the vast majority of us will still be supporters, no matter where we are and what's happening.

West Ham Till I Die : Parish Notice: Maintaining Standards on WHTID

I can understand where you are coming from. I guess we all have different views as to what is acceptable on our blogs. Some of us are more open to links, so long as they're in keeping with the general subject, and others would rather it didn't happen. Like I said before though, this blog is just one of many. Granted, it is very good in many ways, but it's all still optional. Thanks for linking to me in your blogroll, by the way. I've returned the favour. Anyway, that's quite enough from me, in case I manage to descend into chat :D

Yeah, everyone is going to have their own opinion. Some of us are going to remain positive, see what could be changed in a rational way and others may be less positive or even get into an outright panic after only a few games. It's really not worth getting too worked up over people that see the glass half empty rather than the glass half full. Besides, it helps to stimulate debate and it's not too much of a problem as long as people keep their responses positive. I'd like to think we're all capable of expressing an opinion without letting it get out of hand.

Well, whether any of us agree with what Ian has to say or not, it is still his blog. So the overlap of politics is also his decision and, since he's heavily involved in it, I'm sure that's not going to disappear any time soon. Posting on here is optional so, if we don't agree with the rules, we don't have to stay. There are plenty of other West Ham related blogs and forums to choose from as an alternative, after all. So to that extent, I'm not entirely inclined to agree with the Big Brother comment because, although he may be watching us on here, we can still step out of sight and onto another site at any time. It all simply comes down to choice; not such a big deal.

West Ham Till I Die : Hines on Target as Green Sees Red!

I guess he's had enough of soulless Saturday afternoons at the Emirates, so he thought he'd come and check out a club with a bit more life in them. He's obviously traumatised and needs time to realise what constitutes a good player again.

West Ham Till I Die : Eggert Magnusson to Return?

Yeah and I reckon we could see some startling changes to the kit and programmes under him. Eggert doesn't seem so bad after all, even if it is another fairy tale courtesy of The Sun.

Well, it looks like it's all wind up the West Ham fans again today. I wonder what kind of nonsense they'll be making up next? These tabloids need to be made to reveal their sources. They could fit them in a postage stamp sized square on the back next to the bar code, no doubt. As for Eggert, things may have been bad when he was around, but they'd already gone wrong before he arrived and I'm pretty certain he's not the only one we could point the finger of blame at.

West Ham Till I Die : The Case for the Defence!

Yeah, there's way too much backing off. It's almost like most of them are too frightened to put a boot in. Once we've lost the ball, against any decent team, we're going to struggle to get it back if they just stand back and watch them pass it about.

Alas, whether giving in to Lucas Neil would have made a difference or not, it was never going to be a viable option. We could spend our time mulling over all kinds of ifs and buts, but this is the hand we've been dealt and we're just going to have to deal with it. As for the formation, we do lose width playing 4-3-3, but the biggest problem with Cole getting no support is our midfield's unwillingness to move forward. The whole team just aren't supporting each other right now. There's no belief, no fighting for the ball, nobody to pass to. Despite all this, we're really not that many points from safety. It just depends on how Zola and Clarke deal with the situation.
