It will be interesting to see whether a proposed media bailout would be the final straw for the American people. I'd like to think it would be. Also, I have some perspective on the "Pinch" nickname. His father, Arthur Sulzberger Sr was nicknamed "Punch", which I don't know the origin of. Anyway, while he was, of course, very liberal, he was by most accounts a smart and decent man. When Jr started learning the business, many longtime NYT people didn't think much of him compared to the old man, and started calling him "Pinch".

I agree with what everyone is saying here. Voting for RINOs is a big part of how we got where we are. If the Republicans can't represent conservatives, who are more than 50% of the country, then a new party will have to do it instead.

What I really want to know, although it frightens me greatly, is - who is really pulling the strings? I think we've seen enough of Obama and his staff in the White House to see that they are in over their head. I don't think they really have that much control over the media, entertainment and academia. And yet, each day, like magic, we are treated to a coordinated assault on the truth through as many outlets as possible, all covering or not covering the same topics in the same ways. Whoever is behind that is who we have to take down, regardless of the cost.

It's pretty rare that you come across a person/organization that cannot be parodied because you can't come up with anything more ridiculous or implausible than what they are already doing.

I was about to comment on the number of "trolls" posting on this thread and complain, but I realized it's a good thing. Too often, debates on the internet are between people who are only reading one side of things. So, welcome davide and others, and I hope you will be back. Following up on news stories that are either a) no longer in the active cycle with the MSM, or b) never showed up at all there, is likely to be quite eye-opening for you. If you do keep coming to this site, one thing you will notice is that the people who believe the things you currently feel are crazy are quite a bit smarter, nicer and well-meaning than you have been led to believe. Please consider that, and consider what that means about everything else MSNBC, CNN, etc are telling you.

I agree! It's looking more and more like the MSM is intentionally complicit in all of this, and not just ACORN. I've always been a believer in the "Don't ascribe to malevolence what can be explained by stupidity" philosophy, but I don't think stupidity/incompetence could possibly account for what we're seeing from the media day-in, day-out now.

Wow, every week something more terrifying comes to light. I have to admit that even though I've read a lot of history, I never thought America could get this creepy this fast. It puts the whole "how did they let that happen?" question I've often asked myself about other countries in other times in a whole new and disturbing light.

Is that article supposed to make us feel bad or something? He should be depressed. After years of thumbing his nose at the law and American society, he's in jail.

I think in the long run this actually ends up hurting him. People are justifiably laughing their butts off over this, and it plays right into the "premature adulation" talk that's already attached to this guy. It also may jolt a few people who have been on the fence into realizing how dangerous the domestic and international climate is right now for freedom and human rights. Several of my more liberal friends are even poking fun at this, so there's reason to hope.

Well, on the plus side, he finally has something on his resume - y'know, in case he wants to run for political office down the road or something.
