Didn't the City buy the park that was on Iris and Folsom (just east of the 7-11), demo the trailers, and build affordable single family homes capable of housing far fewer residents?

All those smug PLAN Boulder folks packed into one room! I can feel the pretense all the way in Lafayette! I'd love to see the meeting wrapping up: everyone accidentally trying to get into the wrong Prius in the parking lot!

All that counseling of trauma victims; poor guy is only guilty of having too big of a heart.

I hope he can do some counseling in the can!

The county tried to pass this BS in 2009. Through the work of many in the construction industry, we were able to beat the County's proposal back to the energy code we have now. This "watered down" energy code we currently build with adds about 10-15% to the cost of building a home over what it would be just using the national energy code. Adopting the code that they proposed in '09 (which I am guessing is pretty similar to what they are proposing now) would have likely added 30%.

It is interesting that the Camera chose Scott Rodwin to interview about this. He was the only person in the construction industry to stand up at the '09 meetings and say that he did not think the energy code would increase construction costs. I am glad to see that he has come around.

The peculiar thing is that I get the feeling the council couldn't care less if William and others take their dollars elsewhere.

Boy, this sounds like a witch-hunt. Sounds like the guy was being loose with his prescriptions and not following protocol, but it does not sound like he personally was profiting from the prescriptions more than he would for any other office visit, was selling the drugs himself, was prescribing drugs on any kind of a level that could be a 'business', etc.

Maybe the detective came off like a responsible, busy, professional, adult so the doctor treated him as such. Maybe next time I need a prescription I will have to jump through even more hoops to 'prove' to the nanny state that I need them.

Agreed. I will not respect the closures until I see legitimate reasons for them. The land a public resource and I will use it (responsibly, of course). The County and Open Space would be happier if we only used the Mesa trail and Bob-O-Link. Then they would close those because of too much impact!

I sense sarcasm in the previous poster's comment about prioritizing repair for the off-road crowd. I can tell you that nothing could be farther from the truth. Before the flood, the County and the Forest Service maintained a campaign of systematic closing of trails and routes to motorized use. The primary type of closure has been to close single-track trails to motorcycles, while keeping them open to hikers, horses, and bicycles. These trails were almost universally created and maintained by motorcycles.
Before the flood, there were five (5) miles of legal motorcycle singletrack in all of Boulder County, all of it in Lefthand canyon. After the flood, none are accessible. Lefthand has remained closed despite offers from local clubs to put forth the manpower, machinery, and materials necessary to re-open them. Through my club, I offered to use my excavator and dump-truck to rehabilitate the area. The Forest Service declined my club's offer.
To the previous commentator's post, I suspect that he is correct: singletrack rehabilitation efforts will be few and far between and closures will persist. Enough so that he may even wish there was a motorcycle around to re-blaze the trail.
