Big Hollywood : Why Won't Hollywood Conservatives Make an Alger Hiss Film?

There was a mini-series in the early '80's titled (I believe) "Concealed Enemies" which leaned decidedly towards the side of Hiss. It tried to portray Chambers in a very bad light as I recall. It starred Edward Hermann as Hiss and Peter Riegert (sp?) as, believe or not, Richard Nixon.

Big Hollywood : Daily Gut: Oliver Stone Wants Us to Understand Hitler

“Evil exists. Evil is.” (Kirk Douglas in “The List of Adrian Messenger”) When people start to rationalize evil as being the by-product of a bad childhood, misunderstood intentions, someone’s place in history, etc., we start to weaken our belief in evil until, eventually, for us, it no longer exists. When evil no longer exists, neither does virtue. When virtues goes, so does God, then morals, then decency and then society. When we cannot judge between Good & Evil, we can no longer judge between Good & Bad, Moral & Immoral, Decent & Indecent. When we reach that point, this country will be one, great big Hollywood. (No pun intended.)

This is my #1 Christmas Movie of all time! Sim is the perfect Scrooge, Black & White sets just the right mood, and the supporting cast is brilliant! My favorite parts are when Scrooge finally goes to Fred's house and says to his new niece, "Can you forgive a pig headed old man with no ears to hear with and no eyes to see with all these years." (Always brings a tear to my eye) and near the end when Scrooge is in his office and can't stop laughing. Maybe it's just me, but it seems that each incarnation of this film incorporates less & les of the religious aspect of the story. In the original Dickens story, the birth of "the Christ Child" is mentioned several times. In this 1951 version it is mentioned a little less. The 1984 version is practically devoid of it. Like I said, maybe it's just me.

Big Hollywood : Brittany Murphy: To Remember

Robert, My wife and I had the pleasure of meeting Miss Murphy (all too briefly) about 9 or 10 years ago. A freind of ours was appearing with her in "A View from the Bridge" in NYC. After the show we went back to see our friend, Jerry, and he introduced us to her (and most of the cast) backstage. She seemed very sweet and very humble. Jerry told us how impressed he was with her. Here she was, so young and appearing with Anthony LaPaglia and Laura Linney and it didn't seem to shake her a bit. She was very poised and professional (and very talented). We were very sad to hear of her passing. Thank you for such a touching tribute.

Big Hollywood : 'Equalizer' Star Woodward Played Exemplary Heroes

Ah, another Liberal who has missed the point. We Conservatives really do care about and help those less fortunate. We do it with our own money and not with money confiscated from others. We do it on or own time and with our own efforts and don’t wait around for the government do it for us. This actually shows the benefits of personal responsibility to those who are helped.
