Here's a little gun history for you about what has happened in other countries who did away with a citizen's right to bear firearms: In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control. From 1929 to 1953, about 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

In 1911, Turkey established gun control. From 1915 to 1917, 1.5 million Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated. Germany established gun control in 1938 and from 1939 to 1945, a total of 13 million Jews and others who were unable to defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated.

China established gun control in 1935. From 1948 to 1952, 20 million political dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated Guatemala established gun control in 1964. From 1964 to 1981, 100,000 Mayan Indians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Uganda established gun control in 1970. From 1971 to 1979, 300,000 Christians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Let me preface by stating that I am a female... and do not carry a gun. But I do understand the detriment that would be caused by taking our right to bear arms. For all of us - even those who never owned or carried a gun - our safety would be in jeapordy. If the government prohibits the right to bear arms, those honest and law abiding people you spoke of will give up their weapons, as required. However, you should be prepared for the fact that those people who are not honest and law abiding will certainly keep their weapons, because now they have a real advantage, don't they? We will all become very vulnerable to those who illegally hung on to (or bought) their firearms. And that us why establishing gun control is more dangerous than leaving our right to bear arms in tact. The statistical data for murder and homicide would rise to an alarming rate.
