My "type"? You mean the middle class, tax paying type? The type that would rather spend my tax money on public works projects in my home state rather than some other state? That must be the "smart type". Only a fool would want his home state to suffer due to some ridiculous, misplaced frugality.

Oh, and thanks for the math lesson, Pythagoras. You must be clairvoyant to know both the "flood schedule" AND the repeated cost of missed classes, man hours, lost instruments, lost art, lost students due to stinking mildew infested facilities... I'm sure you're an expert on toxic mold too.

Still come out ahead? Are you sure about that? How much is the lost time worth? What is avoiding the possibility of toxic mold worth? What is having a building you can be proud of worth?

I pay federal taxes too and I'd rather see them spent in Iowa.

Rebuilding and repairing a heavily damaged building that is likely to flood again (every 20 years you say?) is not frugal. It's stupid.

I'm sure you're right that it really wasn't damaged that bad. It was only a 500 year flood.
