This makes me glad I don't live in Cedar Rapids.. I can see the tax raises already from this..

tell that to all the employees that were handed their pink slips today and told they will be out of a job at the end of Feb. Guess that is Mayor Corbutts way of saying Merry Christmas and have a happy New Year.
I find it so amazing to look at all the other communities that where affected by the flood and how they have gotten their towns rebuilt already and then you look at Cedar Rapids... I have been living in Kansas City for the past 13 years and just recently moved back and I am just amazed at this city. I have never seen so many cry babies and people wanting a free hand out from the government like I have seen in this city. Time to grow up, fend for yourself and stop waiting for someone else to do things for you. New city slogan is going to be "CEDAR RAPIDS THE CRY BABY CAPITAL"
I don't understand why they can't use the land that they already own where the old library sat.. Look at the Federal court house and how they are building that with the entire lower level going to be parking, that would solve the parking issue, they already own the land so that would solve the land issue and save the tax payers a lot of money that we will have to dish out. Geez think about it!!!!
read again. Didn't say he had a trailer on 1/3 acre he has a 4 bedroom home... As for living in a parking lot well that is the joys of living for 18 months rent free.
Their rent has been $0.00 for 18 months now and you want to ask this person if they want to pay their rent? Family sticks together...I agree so how about they get their family to take care of them and not the tax payers?????
Bills, bills, and more bills........What? They sure haven't had any rent bills or utility bills (two major ones there) for the past 18 months...
and thou all knowing one (who don't know bull.) The employers that was mentioned would be willing to workout their schedules around any employees school schedules.. Looks like you need to wake up and see the reality of the world.
This is not the place to advertise for Kaplan buddy if you want to take out an ad talk to the newspaper themself. As for screening students why do they send out so many spam mails to email accounts begging people to enroll and have so many pop-up ads on webites?
Ii sat here today looking through the newspaper and every 2 bedroom apartment I seen listed in there run in the range of $350 up to $700 a month.. Now I am wondering why are they having such a hard time finding something for less then what FEMA is going to charge??? Maybe it is the fact that they got to use to paying NOTHING and want to continue to be a burden on the tax payers? WAKE UP YOU HAVE HAD PLENTY OF TIME TO SAVE UP AND FIND A PLACE OF YOUR OWN!!!!!! These people need to realize the free ride is over and it is time for them to stand on there own two feet.
