I went skydiving for the first time in August. After free falling with a plane above my head ("Wait. I'm no longer inside of that."), the parachute deployed, and I was surprised to find myself suspended in the most complete silence I have ever experienced. Looking below my dangling feet, I could see range of mountains with tiny roads like veins running its coarse. I could see cars the size of buttons and buildings I could hold in my hand. In that moment, I captured a whisper of the revelation of God's perspective.
I realised that, while aware of the bustle and chaos below me, and while completely connected to the struggles I knew the ones I love were facing, I was also surveying the bigger view of things. I could see how very small every individual situation was in relation to the endless line of the horizon. Yet I still cared deeply for those specific situations to which I was tied.
God experiences that perspective on a divine, infinite scale every moment. He is at once present to my heartache and my joy, my laughter and my aching, while also scanning the entirety of the line of time from His endless position in eternity. No wonder He is the Prince of Peace.
