I feel sad for those people who bought phones that they knew were not compatible with their networks.

And does all of your worldly experience allow you to know what everyone else on this thread knows? No? Because what he said was that you need to understand that not everyone here has no idea what they're talking about.

No, they'll only offer the unlock once it's released here. Never pay for a jailbreak.

They don't let us downgrade our firmwares. The 3G can downgrade freely but the 3GS and higher can only downgrade if you've saved your SHSH files, and you redirect your iTunes through a separate server.

If a jailbreak is worth billions of dollars and the deaths of thousands of sea creatures, as well as almost a dozen people, maybe you need to rethink life. /end sarcasm/ The bottom line is they can do what they want because they owe you nothing. 'You' as in all of us. Sure, it'd be nice to know when to expect a jailbreak, but they have their reasons and they don't even need to explain themselves. I do get where you're coming from, but unfortunately our opinions don't matter, and you're not the first (nor the last) to make this argument; they haven't budged in the past and they won't budge in the future.

You need to get past the Emergency Call screen though; OP needs to have an official SIM in order to jailbreak with Spirit first. But if you can get an official SIM and jailbreak, you can unlock using Ultrasn0w

Is your phone a 3G or a 3GS? If you've got a 3GS I don't think there's much you can do, except for trying to restore to 3.1.2 or 3.1.3 using the method for Saurik's server; it's a bit of a hit and miss but I bought mine second hand and decided to just try it and it worked. I don't know of any way to check your SHSH unless you're already jailbroken, sorry.

3G can be downgraded simply by downloading the appropriate firmware and using Shift+Restore in iTunes (or whatever the equivalent is in Mac).

It was a long time ago when I downgraded my 3GS, so correct me if I'm wrong but there is a tool called iRecovery, I believe, that should get you out of the loop. Google it and give it a try.

However, if he's looking for an unlock, he probably doesn't have the official carrier SIM. Spirit can't be used on a phone that's stuck on the Emergency Call screen; you'll need to get an official SIM to at least activate your phone before you can jailbreak with spirit and then finally unlock with ultrasn0w.

I don't understand most of your two sentences. Also, you are looking back if you're logging in and posting here, and reading the blog. Also, you are looking back if you're upset about this 'jb thing'. Also, you're bashing this 'jb thing' AND iPhone quality, which are two completely separate complaints. I don't get it.

You can't use PwnageTool on an iPhone 3GS jailbroken with Spirit. And none of that even matters if you have the new bootrom... Read the post thoroughly.
