I don't know about his comments affecting the viewership, but I was looking at the ABC article about this controversy, that is at the top of the headlines now, and I couldn't believe how many ignorant people agreed with Hanks in the comments. Not only did they agree with Hanks, but several of the people called the criticism of him by conservatives attempts to "censor" him. In other words, Hanks should be able to say whatever he wants, and nobody can criticize him for it.

I am often perplexed as to how people like Maher and Garaofalo and Rosie O' can spew such incredibly nasty things about people they disagree with, while at the same time calling them "haters." I don't understand how they can be so blind to their own hatred. I guess it is a simple matter of projection, by people who are really insecure.
