Landry is going to be huge for us this year!
Great game tonight! It's so nice to start off the season with a win. And there were SO many positives to take away from this game! Can't wait to see Tyreke out their with Beno, Green, Landry and Cousins on Friday. New season, Go Kings!
Kings shot themselves out of this one early. WAY to many jumpers and not enough aggressive drives to the basket, even for Tyreke. It doesn't look like they learned from the last game against the Clips, which doesn't give confidence. The ticky tack fouls seem to be the "thing to call" right now by these refs and it makes me fear that Cousins will be plagued by them this season. All in all, after a really bad loss, this game was not encouraging!
Really lookin forward to seeing what Marcus brings defensively to the floor, he was a great defender at the college level and I know he was working on that over the summer as well. Also will be good to see Beno and Reke together on the floor again. They know enough of each others game now, so they should be even better than last year. It'll also be a good test for Boogie's conditioning. Can't believe i'm so excited for the pre-season. Go Kings, lets get it this year!
Media day was great! Thanks so much to the team and coach Westphal for answering so many questions and continuing to reach out to the community. We appreciate it more than you know!
Any chance we might get some video from the practices? I've seen a bit from Tyreke this offseason, but nothing really from any of the other guys.
Did you watch the games last season? Tyreke WAS unguardable. Thats kinda why he won ROY.
Did you read what I wrote? "If you look at it from a purely "athletic" standpoint, Sac is WAY ahead of both those teams! That in no way means their better or more talented." Read BEFORE you reply. These guys do have skill, it just hasn't fully developed yet. And at this point in the NBA, I would much rather have a young athletic up and coming squad of twelve guys than a group of guys on their way out! Especially considering the number of other young athletic up and coming squads (OKC, POR, ATL, CHI, MEM...ETC) who already have a few more years than this team. Because it's THOSE types of teams that will be the ones playing for championships in the next few years. Oh, and NO, athletes DON'T win championships! Clutch players do! And loads of those guys (Fisher, Horry that sob, Posey...etc) are not athletic. Being athletic is a bonus! Tyreke didn't hit game winners cause he's an athlete. He hit em cause he's clutch! He feels the moment and isn't afraid of it. Cousins obviously showed some of that mentality in summer league, thats a big plus as well. That attitude rubs of on teammates too. The game, as well as the league, is all about runs. The Kings arn't nearly at a full sprint yet, but with development, they'll be running OVER teams with that bonus of athleticism in three years.
How do either of those teams have the "best athletes"? San Antonio is ancient and the only "major" athlete on LA is Shannon Brown, who really isn't that good (no jummper, not a good passer, not a slasher) otherwise. If you look at it from a purely "athletic" standpoint, Sac is WAY ahead of both those teams! That in no way means their better or more talented, but athletic....oh ya, way more! And JT was never spos to have to do all the work. The team was hoping Hawes would have been the force in the middle, but his defense NEVER got better. With the help he has now, JT's going to SHOCK people this season. Less pressure means he can just be patient, which is the next step in his growth. Patience is also what Kings fans need to continue to have, I still say playoffs next year (though i'll admit there's a SLIGHT chance they could do it this season) as the 7th seed in a (yet another) super tight western conference. We'll get there, this teams finally headed in the right direction again!
