I think we should go back to our founding priciples. I believe that the conservative beliefs of our founders can be applied to the problems we face today. When attacking any problem we face as a nation, I would begin by starting with the following foundation:
1) Life- all life is valuable; is the action going to damage or impair life
2) Personal Responsibility - this goes for individuals as well as the business community. You sink or swim through your own effort, except in extreme instances. But, intervention must be thoughtful and productive
3) Smaller Government - government does nothing as well as the private sector (Reagan)
4) Less Taxation - taxes are burdensome and discourage productivity; a smart sound tax policy sound only collect enough to support the government, as stated in the Constitution.
So, here we go again with the President and his strawman arguments. He says, "Either come up with better ideas, or be quiet." The problem is that the President doesn't believe any other ideas are better. He does not believe ideas based on the 9 principles and 12 values are better ideas than his.
This will be on Fox News during the 6pm hour! I think Obama has figured out an end-around on this one...put everone on nationalized healthcare, then it won't matter who pays for what! I just contacted my federal representatives about this...I encourage everyone else to do the same.
Navy vet here, with great private health insurance. Praise God, I am healthy and never wounded, but this has me pissed enough to eat nails!!! I can honestly accept that Pres. Obama is a left wing nut, who wants to spend us into the ground and believes the government is the answer to all problem...except the heath care of the nations wounded warriors!!!
If things weren't FUBAR before, they're SNAFU now!
As a Navy vet, I was furious to just read the yahoo story posted on Drudge, that Obama is going to have wounded vets private insurance providers refund the VA for treatment they receive!!!! I am too mad to write....
"I think it’s time we ask ourselves if we still know the freedoms that were intended for us by the Founding Fathers…A government can’t control the economy without controlling people. And they knew when a government sets out to do that, it must use force and coercion to achieve its purpose. They also knew, those Founding Fathers, that outside of its legitimate functions, government does nothing as well or as economically as the private sector of the economy.” These are the words of Ronald Reagan, in October of 1964!
It’s time to recognize we have strayed far from the path which our Founders cleared for us, and that is what has led us to this point in history.
