I'm willing to watch any Western, pretty much, being intelligent enough to disregard any current political overtones that may be present, and just enjoy that someone is actually putting a "horse opera" on television again.

May or may not be relevant, but was just reading about "Wheat's Louisiana Tigers", Confederate Shock Troops in Lee's Army of Northern Virginia made up of "lower class" folks from New Orleans, such as Irish, thieves, drunks, former soldiers, buskers, etc. Seems that the businessmen/slave owners would employ the Irish for dangerous jobs, since they didn't want to risk their slaves in such situations...so much for equality.

Seems the "good people" of New Orleans didn't care for General Wheat's recruitment tactics much because there weren't enough "socially acceptable" folks.

Must have done something right though, as these were among the elite of Confederate Troops that Lee used again and again.

Wonder if the Left realizes the LSU "Tigers" come from that heritage - nickname?

If I'm not mistaken, the issue of Polygamy is already in the courts and will ultimately be decided by the Supreme Court. As part of the Supreme Court decision some years ago on Sodomy Laws, they've opened the door to all sorts of "marriages", with Homosexual Marriage being the first, and Multiple Marriages being the next. They will almost certainly couch it as "multiple marriages", in which it's not strictly a Man/Multiple Women, but Multiple Men/Women type of thing in order to preserve their political correctness. After that practically anything is possible under the guise of political correctness and diversity.

Nevertheless, it's on its way.

Unlike the other services, Marines are not allowed to wear their "Utilities", i.e. Camouflage off base. Even if they are traveling from home to their base, they are not even supposed to stop for gas or snacks in this uniform. You will never see a Marine in the Airport traveling in Utilities - they are either in uniform, or civilian clothes. As a 6 year active-duty former Marine, I dismissed this individual out-of-hand. He may have sometime been a Marine, but his physical condition, the fit of his uniform, and his actions say that we has never been a Marine.

There is no "Profession" called Journalism. There is no licensing, testing and no professional body that can revoke a person's "Journalism License" for malfeasance, etc. From Lawyers and Accountants to Plumbers and Hairdressers, there is a public requirement that they be professionally licensed, and a review body where you can go to complain. Journalism has none of these.

The whole "mirage" of "Professional Journalism" only began after WWII and the ascendance of Television Reporters, like Huntly, Brinkley, Cronkite, etc. Before WWII Journalism was like the Wild West - the papers and radio made the news as they desired, reported as they desired and publically back whichever Political Party they wanted.

Journalism is bunk.

Perhaps the Obama "crowd" is just waving this "shiny thing birth certificate" in everyone's face to distract them from something far more sinister. I'm not sure and don't have an opinion, but it fits the circumstances.__

I'm pretty sure Obama is a "natural born U.S. Citizen". But regardless, he's quintessentially not "American"! His early upbringing out of the United States and his subsequent association with Marxists, Socialists and such have warped his American View.

An actor you might not think of - Ward Bond - of "Wagon Train" on Television, but who also appeared in 26 John Ford Films. Rumor is that he and John Wayne, as young men and best friends, liked to go into bars, drink and start fights - just for fun. By all accounts Ward Bond was a tough guy.

Can we just rename PBS - Pravda?

In 1962, just after his TV series he made a movie "Hell is for Heroes", with Fess Parker, James Coburn and a host of character actors you would all recognize. It is an iconic role for him as a battle weary WWII soldier who lives for the combat. The scene with he and James Coburn and the flame thrower is excruciating, for those of us who know about flame throwers.

Just after that he had another "anti hero" role in "The War Lover". No one else could have played those roles.
