The Universal Joint (built in an old mechanic's garage) is about 3 blocks away. There is also The Admiral about a mile away to the east, and if you like authentic Mexican, Tacos Jalisco Mexican Restaurant is some of the best I've ever had! On Tuesdays, you can also walk to the West Asheville Tailgate Market and get some amazing local veggies, cheese, eggs, meat and goods and cook at home in that amazing kitchen!

I really do. I moved away to be near aging parents, but would love to come "home" one day! :)

Hi there. The weather in Asheville is very mild. There are some floodplain areas (particularly around the French Broad), but the location of this house is fine. It's actually only 3 blocks from my old house and we only had a 1% chance of flooding there. Winters can be very cold, but it doesn't snow often. I can really only remember about 3 or 4 big snows in the time I was there.

Honestly, I wouldn't describe Asheville as country. Some of the rural areas out in the county are a bit country, but the city itself is very urban and progressive. I guess it all depends on your frame of reference, though. :)

As an 8 year resident of Asheville (until very recently), one of the things I miss the most is the availability of fantastic food! From local CSA's and farmer's markets to James Beard nominated chefs, you really can get anything you want there! I love Early Girl and Curate, but I'd also like to suggest not missing Cucina 24 <a href="http://(http://www.cucina24restaurant.com/)" target="_blank">(http://www.cucina24restaurant.com/) and Table <a href="http://(http://tableasheville.com/)" target="_blank">(http://tableasheville.com/). Cucina is on Wall Street, just a few doors down from Early Girl and serves incredible rustic Italian food in a beautiful but relaxed setting. Table is one of Asheville's original farm to table restaurants and recreates their menu daily based on the seasonal products they can procure. It is always creative, delicious and FRESH!

I would ABSOLUTELY keep this house. I actually lived in Asheville most of my adult life until I moved away 2 years ago to be closer to aging parents. Some of my happiest memories are there, and I even lived in West Asheville (where it looks like this house is). The sense of community and local pride there is something I've not found since. I sure would love to come home, and live in that amazing house!! :-)
