If this game were taken off the shelf, than were do you draw the line for all the other games that have violence and sex and drugs? Is killing someone not as bad as rape? These are all questions that run through my head when I think about this because why aren’t the most popular games where in all you do is go around murdering people and police officers, and use drugs and have sex being taken off the shelves. Videogames are a form of art and do not think there should be any limitation on that, even though some things that are created might not be concerned “ok” by the majority of people.
In the United States it is is banned because sex is frowned upon in almost every situation. When it is a natural thing that everyone on the planet likes. Sex sells and I do not think these companies should be penalized just for taking advantage of that. Especially the Japanese because sex is much less frowned upon in their culture than compared to our own. So who are we to judge what they can and can not play. Once again I feel like it is only a videogame and should not be treated like it is going to start making people do things they would not have originally done anyway.

I do believe that it is a very big deal though, unlike what is said in the article. No matter what race will always be an issue in some way or another. When there is one race more in than another in positions of power it will ultimately generate problems. I feel a little bad saying it but I definitely do not want to be the minority. But I think it is human nature to want to be the majority. Everyone does it, it makes them feel more comfortable. We always want to split into groups and have the biggest group. Even if there was a big room of white people. After a while they would slowly form groups that reflect their culture. The Irish people would get together and the Italians and Germans would do the same. And if one group is larger than another it feels good. It feels safe and in control being in the majority. And if anyone disagrees with that I think they are fool of it.
Being in the minority would be hard, after taking this class I can see the struggles that come along with being in the minority a lot more clearly. And it makes me not want to be in the minority even more. The Native Americans are a perfect example. They are the minority of all minorities and they are having such a hard time just passing by. They really have no say in anything and have had to resort to governing themselves. If it is a immoral thing to say that this is something I do not want to become than I guess I am immoral.

On the other hand is it the job of the government to make up for what was done to these people hundreds of years ago? This could cost millions of tax payers’ dollars if only a small percentage of land is given back. And there are many people who do not want this to happen. But after reading this article and being in this class I feel it is the job of the government to help these people because if they do not do it no one will. We can not just forget about what happened or say it was not us who did it. Something needs to be done now or else everything will go back to the way it was and we will try to just forget about it, while the native Hawaiians suffer.
After reading the article I am optimistic that this will pass and the Native Hawaiians will get the help they deserve and the recognition from the federal government. The main idea that keeps running through my head is why have they not been recognized just like all the other mainland natives? They have endured the same problems and hardships. They need the help of the government and the support of the American people as well. We need to recognize what they went through and act accordingly, because if it had not been for our ancestors taking their land none of this would have been happening to them.

This really made me think about what I would do if I was born in a different country that was a “third world country”. Being completely honest I don’t know if I would have the amazing will to persevere and fight through in order to be successful like Baptiste. Having such a hard work ethic and able to think outside the box she has been able to make her business successful and grow. If she had moved to America I could only imagine the amazing business she would be running today. Reading this shows how unequal this world really is. If she had the same opportunity as Americans she would be me a millionaire. It is not fair that just because of where you are raised should influence your chance at being successful.
This article really makes me feel and think about the inequality of the world. The truth is no matter how smart and talented you are a lot depends on where you live. It is a shame that something you have no control over should be such a big influence on your livelihood. Yvrose Jean Baptiste is a wonderful women who is a inspiration to all who listen to her story. I agree with professor Richards when he says that every business student should read this article because it really does give the insight that is needed to be able to see you real future opportunities and not to be a student just assuming you will be getting a six figure job.

Sex was a very common thing back than as it is now, so to assume it would not influence the writings of this time would be a little ridiculous. But I think people need to be mature enough to be able to read something and not just assume they are reading about a sexual experience or jump to conclusions. After reading this article it seems like every time the thigh is mentioned it is automatically assumed to really be meaning the genitals. Maybe it just means the thigh? Or even if it does mean the genitals I do not think that is a reason to “bash” on the bible. I think it is a way to keep the bible respectful considering it the surroundings it would be read. Such as in church and other holy places.
The stories in the bible are stories of faith not complete truth, so saying how the story of adam and eve’s children needing to have incest in order to create the population of the human race is obvious. But once again it is not meant as a complete truth but a story of faith such as many others to get people to believe in their religions. Some of the things I read in the article are a little ridiculous, such as the part where it is said that Abraham must seal their covenant with circumcision really means that he must tamper with his reproductive organs? And assuming when it is said that someone is wasting their seed it is assumed that they were masturbating. This article was very interesting and really made me think and see both sides of the story. But after reading it I feel that anything can be seen in any passage if you are looking for it.

Even with the huge impact that the native Americans had on this countries founding, I myself feel that the way it is portrayed is as not that big of a deal. When being compared with the civil rights movement and slavery. Also Black people have been much more vocal about their problems and have tried to fix them on a national scale and have done so almost completely. Even though there have been just as terrible of situations for most minorities they are not seen in the media as much as black people.
Also I think the conversation of race is always brought back to black and white because of the fact that these are the two major groups of people in this country. So there are the most opportunities for problems and segregation. I have personally seen racial things being done and said right here at Penn State, and when I do it is always between a black person and a white person. I think there are a lot of factors that add to this problem, but it is going to be hard to get the idea that race relations does not have to just be between whites and blacks. Once again though, it all comes down to media and face time. The civil rights movement was an amazing thing and the speeches and acts of bravery held by en entire race was unforgettable. And this is what we always think back to when the words race relations are mentioned.
When it was mentioned how no one thinks to mention Asians or other minorities other than blacks in our country when it comes to race, a lot of this I feel has to do with people thinking that these people are just immigrants. Blacks and whites are the major races who are populating our country and are the same major groups that have been around since the beginning of our country’s time. So I think it is very much an internal problem that needs to be dealt with by convincing the people of America that these groups should not go unnoticed, that they have the right to be considered when talking about race and race relations.

I wound if by making the white people actually seem like the group that is doing the evil the director was trying to undo this typical scenario? If this is true it was a good effort but still I do no think it got the point across because of how the hero is still white. But on another point the main hero does at the end of the movie actually become one of the indigenous people to this planet and his white body dies. This might have been an attempt to step away from making it seem like at the conclusion to the movie he was not white he was a native. At least this is how I felt at the end of the movie, it seemed like he did not like his culture and wanted to be one of the blue people and live their culture which was made to seem much better and more ethical than that of the white man.
In a way I agree with what was said by Brooks because once again it can be seen that a white man has saved a minority or in this case someone who is any other color than white. But at the same time I think the director does a good job at slightly stepping away from this typical scenario. So I understand what he is saying but I do not completely agree. The director does a good job at making the audience really feel that the white man is evil and not compassionate at all. And like I said before at the conclusion of the movie when the protagonist is accepted and actually saved by the indigenous people of this planet it is a good twist. Because now the hero is not white at all he is literally one of them because his white body dies and his spirit is transferred to the other body. So in a way at the end of the movie the protagonist is actually one of their own.

When your own player breaks down and can not continue to play because of the terrible harassment coming from his own fans, what does that say about your team and during world cup your own country. It is terrible that the FIFA organization has not stepped in earlier to solve this problem; it probably would have been much easier. Now they have a huge task in front of them.
Not being a huge soccer fan I have always thought of European soccer fans as being the greatest fans in any sport because of their amazing enthusiasm. I have seen some riots break out, but still have never even thought anything like this was going on. It is hard to even understand the reasoning behind it. Why would you harass your own player? This is what just absolutely blew my mind. Racism is obviously still an issue across the world, and it will always be one in my opinion. It is impossible to make a world that is so diverse as ours perfectly equal in ever aspect. As wonderful as that would be it can’t happen. But this is unacceptable. The president of FIFA needs to step up and set things straight before he and many others are embarrassed by this outlandish behavior.
Even when the head coach of Spain’s International team was racist and only received a five-thousand dollar fine. Is that supposed to make some sort of impact on a man that makes a huge salary every year? I couldn’t believe a coach of all people would say something so disrespectful and with what sounded like such hate about a player who deserves the respect of a champion. This coach should have been fined hundreds of thousands of dollars and possible fired or at least suspended. This would never be allowed with such little consequences in the United States. I think it is quite hypocritical that they are called the “enlightened” continent and how they call this a beautiful game. They are disgracing the sport with these actions.
