The almost-the-same site gag's been done before, as the folks at JesusAllAboutLife.com could probably tell you.

Like that Joe Loss song, revived by Bananarama, says: "It ain't what you do, it's the way that you do it". JAAlies was never anything but an open response and mickey-taking to Big-Media Jeebus: no deception was involved whatsoever.

I would certainly condemn any attempt at passing-off the AVN's site as anything to do with the authentic Skeptics.

Ray, your first assertion is true: it is possible for everybody to be stupid at some time.

Your second assertion: that faith does not rely on humans, is not. If faith is not your act of choice, independent of coercion by a god, then all that stuff about "free will" is suddenly nonsense. The "god" is irrelevant in this case, as in so many.

Your argument appears to be that the loving christians at Mount Alvernia can be flawed, but it's okay because your god is not. Remind me again who is allegedly god's acting principle on earth... oh yeah, people. And every wrong done in your god's name is not to be held against your god? I think you're right in a way: the people should be blamed, and the god is irrelevant.

How would you infer that it's much effort at all, Bel? A lot of effort would be something like bulldozing a church, or perhaps organising a huge data flood to take a church's website offline. A few cartoons, a few postcards here and there... and we haven't spent a percentage point of the money which is being wasted on the Big Chairs and Birds In Pants media assault.

As to why it's done... Mosquitos: do you swat at them, or let them bite because something so insignificant is still disproportionately annoying?
