The Kingdom of God has no superstars, just servants doing their masters bidding. These are the sorts of heroes who gladly shed that title for that of follower and servant.
Would she be heartbroken to find out that the President's detractors are not racist?
The country was founded by men and women who believed in the protestant God (versus the Catholic, Jewish, etc.), from what I understand. Each of their previous countries has spend some time slaughtering Christians so they created a country that allows you to worship freely without interference from the goverment. Preventing overreach by government into religion, extended to general prevention of overreach by colsolidation of power in the states. Today, both Christians and those who keep the flame of conservatism are under attack, and largely for the same reason. The American tradition and the power it has produced is evil to its enemies. Christians are the keepers of the family which is a foundation of this society. Conservatives are the keepers of power at the individual level. Christians are also keepers of the founding faith. Faith, Family, and Individual power are all being attacked by Atheists and Scientists, Secular cultural forces, and Socialists/Progressives respectively. Conservatives and Christians mesh well together and are natural allies in the fight against those who seek to change the country via its culture, its relgions and its power structure.
Maddow tried to cover for Mathews by referencing the bombshell aligations against Pelosi and others as if it had sort of petered out.
The debate should help the republicans distinguish themselves from one another, not justify themselves or force them to proceed through a gauntlet of media questions designed to make them appear foolish or dangerous.
How about a Breitbart, O'Reilly sponsored debate?
If you were a tree...(how could we cut you down)
I would not entirely agree on the "moderate" comment, though the craziness and character issues are all too true. If you believe that the expansion of government needs to be stopped and then reversed as most Tea Party members do, then you need someone with conviction, passion and track record of relentlessness. Romney may well be able to push for change, but it's hard to picture him doing it. Santorum maybe. Newt maybe. The best candidate probably isn't running so we'll have to see who is best available.
I think the media is starting to freak out because they are discovering that Newt has some teflon and that Mitt might not be their dream date for Obama's re-election. If Newt continues they'll warm up to him as a candidate. But they should be careful what they wish for.
Until you realize you are in a war, you won't fight. Mitt doesn't get it. Newt and Santorum do.
