You are entitled to your opinion of YU and may very well be correct. I am not familiar with the university outside a few colleagues I know that have smicha from there.

My point was that the opinion that music is forbidden all year isn't a modern chiddush but rather a very old opinion. People are making it out that some black hatter in Boro Park came up with this last week.

Just clarify to the anti-religious people insulting Orthodoxy (some of the commenters here are providing a great example of sinas chinam btw...), there are long-standing opinions that music is forbidden all year since the destruction of the Second Temple. There are of course reasons why we are lenient today. But this isn't some newfangled Haredi chumra from Bnei Brak...

This article quotes Torah in its support of gay marriage and then the author tells us to discard the Torah because it prohibits homosexual behaviour...

Liberalism is a wonderful philosophy. But it isn't the same as Judaism. Non-Orthodox Jews have to understand this...gay marriage makes perfect sense in secular liberal democratic America but Judaism is unequivocal in its condemnation of it. My problem isn't that liberal Jews support gay marriage, my problem is when they do so in the name of Judaism as the author does so here.

Of course this is my problem with the label "Orthodox". There are many who would say that one cannot be an "Orthodox" Jew and support anything that even approaches legitimizing something the Torah puts into the category of ye'hareg v'al ya'avor.

And I'm sure there are many "Orthodox" Jews that echo your sentiments exactly as well.
