Wait. I have known strong Christians who did vote for Obama (whom I disagreed with). They believed abortion was wrong, but they believed he was the right man for the job. Regardless, you cannot take someone's vote in a secular election on a whole host of issues and say they are not Christian based on that vote. This is one of those disputable matters that divides a church if Christians let it. In my church, and I can only speak for mine, no one ever addresses voting because the Bible never addresses it and it is largely irrelevant to living the Christian life. I have known Libertarian Christians who did not care about how people voted on abortion because they felt that sinners will do what they want regardless and that God will call them to account. We are called to live like Christ and that is it. We do not invite any politicians to speak because the pulpit is for glorifying God, not man. But saying that "If you vote Democrat you are not a Christian" is wrong, divisive and sets a standard that God himself has never set simply because the Bible never addresses voting and how people vote. I will say that if something violates their conscience and they go against it, then that is wrong. But lumping every person who votes Democrat into the "pagan" camp makes it seem like you are setting how you vote as your standard of faith and not whether you love Jesus. GOP/Conservative/Republican does not equal Christian and many GOPers need to get that into their heads. The GOP is not a church or religious group and acting so is counterproductive.

You are still thinking that you change people's hearts through politics. As Christians, our battle is against the spiritual realm that has deluded people. Political beliefs are fine, but no one is going to be saved by them.

I have no problem with a Mormon president. you misunderstood me. I was using an illustration. If a muslim ends up president, I still have to be a disciple of Jesus regardless. I agree that Obama stinks. But I believe, respectfully, that you need to examine what comes first: God or your politics. Because It seems to me yhat you are willing to divide Christians over whom they vote for and that is wrong. That is a disputable matter per Romans.

And you are being unbiblical by stating that last statement. The acts of the sinful nature are obvious (Gal 5:19). Nowhere is it mentioned that voting in a secular election for someone who disagrees with you on certain issues is one of them. You yourself said it was not there. Adding that as a requirement for discipleship is entirely unbiblical. Jesus cones first, not my vote.

Show me where the Bible says, "By the way, if you vote D, you are a sinner." I have gotten great spiritual advice from people who voted Dem. Furthermore, voting may be a personal deed, but it does not mean that I am not abiding by G-d's word when I vote for someone who believes differently. My vote is not a statement of faith for my walk with G-d. Since Mitt will probably be the nominee, are you endorsing Mormonism or ll of his actions in MA? No. A vote does not mean worship.

Show me where the Bible says that. Show me where that is evident anywhere in the New Testament. I am not arguing for argument's sake. I am trying to show that you cannot use someone's vote as a litmus test for faith. Jesus is not going to ask you who you voted for in 2008. He's going to ask if you followed him. Furthermore, the people in my life who voted for Obama in 2008, whom I respectfully disagreed with, are you saying they aren't Christians? If you are, then I will flat out tell you that you are dreadfully wrong. They have given me some of the most helpful advice possible. Just because you or I disagree with them does not make them any less Christian. Doing so causes factions, which is in direct violation of Galatians 5. You are basically arguing that any Christian who votes for a Democrat denies the faith. That is adding to the Bible, as much as saying that you have to obey all Jewish laws and circumcision when you become a Christian. You are adding a requirement that is not there. Jesus comes first, not my politics.

And I submit that, once again, you are putting politics above faith. I know Christians who have voted Democrat, GOP, Libertarian, etc. To negate their faith based on their ballot is completely antithetical to the religion. I state again: Republican does not equal Christian and Democrat does not equal non-Christian. Judging your brothers and sisters by how they vote instead of their personal deed and their faith is putting your political beliefs before your faith.

And yet you are still saying that if they vote Democrat they are not Christians. And that is never the test for someone who is a Christian. It is personal belief and their lifestyle. You are also assuming that they believe everything the Democratic Party stands for, which is in error. Not everyone here agrees with the GOP platform on every issue and yet you'll vote for them. So voting for someone does not mean agreement on every issue. I am saying, unequivocally, if anyone is judging who is a Christian and who isn't solely on how they vote, they are putting politics above their faith and I will not do that. You are basically saying they are sinning by doing so. Nowhere does the Bible support that.

And every king was answerable to God who spoke through the prophets. If they didn't adhere to Jewish laws, they were punished or eliminated. How is that not exactly how you describe it. God is the head and if the king doesn't follow God, they are punished. Explain the inconsistency.

Then you are saying that voting Democrat is a sin. Show me specifically where the Bible says that, "If you vote Democrat you will not enter the kingdom of heaven". Because I have known some people who have voted opposite of myself and yet I have found spiritual wisdom from them on many of my own personal matters. But to say they are in sin by voting Democrat is putting your politics above your faith. Republican does not equal Christian and Democrat does not equal non-Christian. I have had to remember that often.
