interesting way to look at it! I think all of us would rather retire early and be on a beach somewhere than be slogging away in the business world :)

Interesting that Email Marketing is still on top 5.... I would think it does not work as well as it used to anymore.... are marketers just holding on to it?

hehe I agree... I think for me it was very hard for the first 2 weeks or so.... but then I really got into it! The sites I regularly checked for online / digital marketing news was BrandWeek / AdAge.... I find these very interesting and hope to continue reading them even after the course :-) And yes getting comments is awesome!

Untitled : How important is the 234th review of a product online?

Very interesting! It reminds me of the exercise of reading hotel reviews (on TripAdvisor) this past weekend! I am planning a 2 week trip in Italy and was trying to book 5 different hotels.... I can say for sure that I absolutely did not pick hotels that have only 1-3 reviews (either good or bad).... to me it was an indication that most probably the hotel is not popular because it is not that good! I obviously rejected hotels with negative reviews and picked ones that were primarily good.... there are always some bad reviews among the good ones, but if those things dont matter to me, I picked them anyways.... but I wouldnt say that I would not trust reviews that are ALL good.... I would have loved that!

Wow these sites are soo funny and can really get addictive as a reader! I guess it can be therapy for people who are looking to vent their feelings and not be judged in the process... in some cases they are looking for advice.... like on some of these sites, people can actually comment on other people's confessions, so as to give advice...

Haha.... this was hilarious! Now I know how to entertain myself when I am bored.... other than checking facebook ofcourse every 5 minutes! I think this is certainly funny and worthy of being passed along to my friends.... but does this make me more aware of Burger King or make me want to go buy anything from the chain? Absolutely not! I still am not a big fan of these chains! So how does this campaign help Burger King or other companies that use similar gimicks?

Interesting! I agree with you.... the possibilities are endless when you think of how technology/internet can be used to make today's education system extremely interactive... I am also very excited for my (future) kids and the opportunites that lie ahead for them :-) I think if in my high school back in India they taught in this case study / interactive sort of way by integrating technology... I would certainly not have slept through my history and biology classes!

Untitled : Adword Campaign - Victim of its own success?

I agree with the relevance point and I also think that relevance is the key here.... if due to overcrowding, adwords does not attract customers / becomes more and more difficult to attract the right customers / thus does not work for advertisers, it will be soon replaced by something else that works. Spending in SEO / organic search results makes sense. I think people still do trust organic search more than sponsored links. As far as aggregator sites are concerned, they do offer competition to google and google needs to respond, as it already is (when you search to buy a camera or another product, google gives you specific options with prices on the top of organic results).

This is an interesting technique.... i think it will be very useful to see how appetizing or unappetizing a dish looks before ordering! Certainly helps a restaurant to differentiate itself from the competition!

Wince's Internet Marketing Blog! : Week 7 - About Brand Consistency

I agree that with airlines all customers care about is price, safety and to get to a destination on time. If ryanair gives me a ticket for cheaper than another airline then I would certainly go with them, even if their customer service sucks. But Ryanair needs to be very careful because if another airline carrier offers about the same price and is known for good service, I would certainly dump ryanair (if the price is same or even if it is very slightly higher) Overall, i think customer service is important.... It is one thing to not consider customer service a priority, but i dont see a point of ryanair trying to maintain their consistent image of poor customer service.... i dont think it can help any company to portray such an image!

The Oyster : Perception of buying on the net – Everyday low prices?

I think consumers buy on the web for 2 reasons: convenience and price. If the consumer is given a good combination of the 2, they will generally go for the online option rather than buying in the store. I think charging a premium to shop online can only be done for products / services that are a pain to get in person. For example, during holiday season the shopping centers are super-crowded, hard to navigate and standing in lines take forever. I try to do my shopping online at these times if I can and I personally would not mind paying a little more to shop online and get products delivered at home, rather than navigating the crazy maze in a mall.... but if the premium is too high, that would make me still go to the malls!

Internet stories from Korea : Cyworld.com, the earliest social networking service

i think cyworld tried to launch in the US in 2006 but it failed. Do you know specific reasons for that? Also, saw this interesting article (Plugged-in Asia) on whats hot / whats not (favorite activities, choice platforms, Favourite social-networking sites) in the various Asian countries: http://digital.asiaone.com/Digital/News/Story/A1S... So whats Not Hot in India? I found out : "Blogging. Barely any local online content is developed, but social media is expected to take a new life in coming months with the launch of YouTube in India."

Week 1 : BitTorrent networks - a serious threat to traditional TV broadcasters?

yes i agree... like other industries (music / software), the tv industry too needs to change with the times.... this could be seen as a great opportunity for them, if they choose to take advantage of the huge demand for shows outside the US.
