The sad fact is that Lugar owns a farm property on the south side of Indianapolis. He could have declared this as his place of residency, but he didn't think it was 1) necessary or 2) worth his time. Why? Laziness? Arrogance? Contempt? A combination of all three? In any case, this oversight is a symptom of a larger problem. Lugar thinks that he deserves special treatment, no doubt because of his status as a nationally-recognized Statesman of the Senate. He thinks that he's so much bigger than Indiana that the simple, polite requirements of political convention are beneath him.
The United States is at a critical political and economic crossroads, because politicians like Dick Lugar have acquiesced to America's evolution into an European-style welfare state. Yet he dismisses the idea that he bears any blame for this, just as he dismisses the idea that he isn't a legitimate Indiana resident. He resides in an elitist bubble. I think it's time for the people of Indiana to burst it for him.
The fact that the UWS 'threat assessment team' 1. sanctioned the confiscation of Miller's property 2. condoned censorship by supporting the removal of the posters (especially the Fascism poster) 3. used a university police officer to enforce ideological conformity 4. reflexively used its bureaucratic power in an attempt to intimidate Miller is all the proof one needs that academic progressives/fascists just don't get irony.
In 2013, Barack Obama, the Democrat Party, the UAW, GM, and Morgan Stanley should all be targeted with a RICO investigation. The GM bailout was and is a criminal enterprise in which billions of taxpayer dollars were used to pay off union and corporate interests and expand federal control over the automotive industry. The Obama Administration has engaged in fraud, bribery, intimidation, and theft: all crimes that would place a private citizen behind bars for decades. When they have the opportunity, I hope that Republicans have the guts to do what is right.
What Liberty Chick does not mention is another murder case in which Kimberlin was suspected - the one that began the bombing spree. This was the infamous Burger Chef murders, in which four employees of a Speedway fast food restaurant were kidnapped and then killed execution-style in a rural area. The speculation at the time was that Kimberlin ordered a hit on one of the employees because of a drug debt and the others were killed to avoid witnesses and make the incident look like a robbery gone wrong. When looking for motive, the police naturally looked into the backgrounds of the victims, which led them to the Kimberlin connection. As soon as the police started to investigate him, Kimberlin decided to begin a campaign of random bombings, to distract their attention. It worked, until he got cocky and sloppy. Local law enforcement put all of its resources into finding the perpetrator, and everyone in the city was afraid to go out a night, for fear of being a victim of senseless violence.
It is oddly fitting that this megacreep is a player in Progressive Politics.
Brett Kimberlin! I can't believe the guy is still around, making a nuisance of himself. He went to my high school in Indianapolis, graduating a year behind me, and was alleged by friends of mine to be the biggest drug dealer on the northside of town - when he was still in high school. By all accounts he was (and it looks like he still is) a scary wierdo - a classic psychopath. I heard a rumor (which I have no reason to doubt) that he threatened to have 'friends' rough up a girl who didn't want to go out with him. His ownership of a health food store was a convenient front - it provided him with a means to launder his drug money.
I am old enough to have witnessed the Watergate saga. Nixon would have survived the scandal if he and his people had simply issued a mea culpa, proven no direct involvement in the break-in plot, and put in place measures to prevent further freelance abuses. Instead, they stonewalled. The obstruction of justice became worse than the original offense.
Apparently Obama and his thug buddies are ignorant of the lesson learned by Nixon and his staff. They are about to learn that history has a nasty way of repeating itself.
The national Democrat leadership of the 1850's, which was dominated by Southern, pro-slavery politicians and their Northern sympathizers, believed that the creation of new, free states would signal the beginning of the end for their 'peculiar institution'. They were willing to use any means to preserve their wealth and their positions of influence. Their moral corruption and intransigence in the defense of their ideology were the fundamental causes of the Civil War.
The national Democrat leaders of today, a group of urban, far-left elitists, are attempting to preserve, against the tide of history, a failed, anachronistic ideology. The political culture that they have created has provided them with wealth and unprecedented political influence. They will not return power to the people willingly. They will use ALL means at their disposal to maintain their power, including voter fraud. We must all be vigilant on November 2nd.
The last thing that this country needs is a 'Bogus Legislature' in Washington, D. C.
In the spring of 1855, the territorial government of Kansas held an election to fill seats in the territorial legislature. The pro-slavery factions of Kansas and Missouri, led by Democrat politicians and given voice by Democrat newspapers, were determined to dominate the political process in the new territory so that they could create a pro-slavery constitution. To this end, these party leaders publicly and unashamedly encouraged and then facilitated mass voter fraud. On election day, thousands of Missouri residents flooded across the border and, using threats of violence to intimidate poll workers, proudly voted illegally. Pro-slavery candidates gained control of the new legislature by a large margin. The creation of the so-called 'Bogus Legislature' and its subsequent activities - its provocative, aggressive pro-slavery program - ushered in a period known to history as 'Bleeding Kansas'. Open warfare broke out between pro- and anti-slavery forces in 1856. Dozens of men were killed.
Actually, I believe that you are referring to his ignorant grandmother, Rachel Carson, who held the office before he was elected to it. Rachel Carson is famous here in central Indiana for saying, after being elected to Congress (I must paraphrase here) "Being in the House of Representatives is very educational. Before I was elected, I had never heard of the National Debt. Now I know what it is."
How typical! An immature lefty sees something he doesn't like and has himself a little hissy fit. I know it will be difficult for you, but why don't you try this - act like an adult and respond with reasoned support of Pete Stark. And since I assume you are no longer in kindergarten, please stop calling people names.
