From a Hawkeye living in AZ, don't worry about the heat. It may be a small concern for the tailgaters, but not for the team. There is almost no humidity here so when the sun starts to drop in the sky the temp falls dramatically. 100 degrees in Arizona is not at all like 100 degrees in Iowa. Fear not, Iowa 35 Arizona 17
Good stuff Marc. For my money one of the most impressive performances of the day was delivered by James Ferentz. I was concerned about the center position pre-season, but not any more. He not only supplied great push but seemed to embrace more of a leadership role pointing and communicating before the snap.
Why not us? Why not now? While I appreciate the attempt to keep our feet on the ground, I am a fan and only the players need maintain perspective. I intend to continue to guzzle the kool-aid and enjoy every minute of it. This season may dictate the direction of the program for years to come. You can see the proof in the major recruiting grabs the Hawks have recently made over the likes of Ohio St., Alabama, Oklahoma etc. If this season goes the way we all hope with the final game a victory in Glendale, then we will just reload for many years. Cyrus Kouandjio would look great in black and gold!
IntenseDebate Notification <DIV dir=ltr align=left>No apology needed Marc. I just thought you misunderstood my message. I agree, it's important to have guys are on your team that know they will make a play.</DIV>

IntenseDebate Notification <DIV dir=ltr align=left>My comment was meant to be in praise of DJK. Like the old saying goes "when you get to the end zone act like you've been there before" and that's what he did.And I love it that he wants to be the guy. </DIV>

The best part about that kick off return at Ohio State was the way he just dropped the ball and went right to the bench after scoring. No celebration, still work to be done. The Hawks will finish that job November 20th.
Well done Marc! This is not the forum for that stuff.
The greatest thing about sports for me is the temporary escape from all the political and religious dung that is being posted here. For a few hours on saturday we don't have to listen to all of this and we can just be Hawkeyes. Now you self important bozos have missed a good story about a good kid. Wish I would have stopped at the end and not continued to scroll down.
Good stuff Mike. I think my head may explode before the season starts. I was born and raised in Iowa City and have never been more nervous and excited for the season. I now live in Arizona and will be making the trip to Tucson to see a game that has me very much on edge. Hope to see all the Hawkeye fans posting here in Arizona in January!
I work at a resort in Scottsdale AZ. Prior to the selection my phone was ringing off the hook with friends, family and friends of friends of friends checking availability. I can tell you that within the hotel industry here EVERY property was praying that the Hawks be selected for the Fiesta. The feeling here was that Junker "took one for the team" to avoid BCS controversy. I can't wait for September when the Hawkeye Nation invades Tucson.
