John, can you give me a few reasons why I should transfer our company's website from Joomla to WordPress. Is SEO that much better? I know from an admin standpoint I'd much prefer WP. How much would I expect to spend to have the site (hharborists [dot] com) look like a website vs a blog?

Well that is a serious project. And so worth the time! Thanks for the tutorial. I will be using this for sure. So you'll be using the Google (gmail) interface when people email you at 9seed-email.com? Then I imagine you could still manage multiple email accounts with Google, especially on iPhone and iPad.

Spence - good read, good thoughts. I applaud your efforts to constantly analyze your social media best practices. And I agree that it has the ability to get overwhelming at times. While I use Twitter to drive traffic to my blog and engage in certain conversations, I also use it as a huge source of information for news, technology bits, and social media strategies (blogging ideas).

So I have to ask a guy who has 35,000+ followers: how long is your list of your "inner circle?" I know the Franklin campus is your main group of friends, but outside of that, how many @replies or mentions are you getting per day? The reason I ask is that I've tried to interact a little on Twitter regarding your LifeWorks with Randy Elrod and haven't heard back from either of you. Please don't read this as confrontational - I'm just trying to figure out how you manage conversations and what to expect. Email may be better for this conversation.

Thanks again for the insight on Twitter.

Michael - great blog post. Although I'm tempted to disagree with your opening line about not being an expert or guru. I see you as an excellent example, so guru certainly seems applicable.

I think your post here could be expanded for the beginner. I understand what you're talking about b/c I consider myself a guru of social media and creating a platform. Specifically, I'm about two months away from launching my HomeBase - transferring from a Blogger account to a WorkPress - very exciting.

Great post. Thanks for the insight. Also, you're setting a good example taking your blog/Twitter hiatus. Good luck with that.

John - you know I'm SOOOO close to making the switch from Blogger to WordPress. You can be the catalyst and hook me up with a free Standard Theme and my blog will speak your praises! Nice post here on Hyatt's blog.

Good thoughts Spence. I'm found myself pondering the same thought earlier this year. I found two good exercises for this - one by Michael Hyatt and the other by Chris Brogan. I wrote about it on my blog (http://hansgameplan.blogspot.com/2010/01/3-words-...

Nice review Spence. I've seen you mentioning this a lot so I'll have to check it out. Of course it's on a long list of books to read. I'd be interested in your reading list as a blog topic. Would that fit into your theme?

Jonathan - I'd love to have you post on my blog, hansgameplan.blogspot.com

I write about my life reflections on leadership, social media, and fitness training. Possible topic: training the body and discipline as a Christian man. I'm open for thoughts or whatever you come up with in good faith. It would be great to connect with you.

Word up. Free stuff DOES rock. John, I have a question. I'll be signing up for your hosting promo this spring. I'm just starting to look into WordPress templates. Unfortunately my content will be some personal and some business - exercise and fitness business with workouts, resources, and training tips. I'll be incorporating pics and videos and Twitter widget (plug-in?) for sure. Any themes come to mind?

John - I totally agree. My wife actually called me on it before I knew about it. This was a short post and I think we could really expand on this topic. As Christian men I think we need to keep a critical eye on this issue. Business and technology are very alluring to some of us. And it can be a good thing, especially for you as you're "making people's dreams come true." I'm just starting my business ideas.

Anyway, good though. Thanks for posting it.
