This comes from the same place as the Reformed and Conservative movements of Judaism. "Be a Jew at home, but not in public." Meaning: Try to be like the secular world in your beliefs, actions and lifestyles. People like to fool themselves that is they do these things then no one will care that they are Jewish. And when the time comes, won't turn the tables and hate. This has created the self-hating Jews, and the ones who don't even relate to their Jewish ancestry. But this never works, and never will. Even if you're direct ancestry is not Jewish, but there is a Jew somewhere in the family, even Hitler gave you a yellow star, and wanted you dead.
