However, on Saturday I watched Kubrick's Shining with my wife and daughters with the lights turned out. My daughters, 10 and 14, HATE scary movies and both scare so easily that it sometimes worries me. Their reaction? Laughter at Nicholson's over the top expressions. Giggles at Duval's dialogue and annoying accent. She says she's from Vermont! And boredom. They saw the whole story coming. My 10 year old fell asleep and my 14 year old said "Really?" when it was done. I haven't seen it in 20 years and thought the same thing. Maybe I'll hunt down that mini-series.
