I'm surprised that 1 in 150 vasectomies fail. That's a terrible rate.

I believe that if you watch FRONTLINE's presentation of "The Warning" you'll see that Mr. Kay is wrong in his opinion.

I'm pretty sure, but don't hold me to it, that the guy with the megaphone was Michael's brother Larry Moore.

"I too used to be a Grant fan - but the forecasters who will be most correct in the 21st century will not be trained economists, but rather ecologists." Or pharmacists.

I remember reading an article (sorry, no reference) a few years ago about birth control in India. Education about condom use and free condoms were distributed to many of the poorer people. After a while, the researchers promoting safer sex and birth control noticed that results were unchanged, unplanned pregnancies stay the same. After further interviews were conducted, come to find out that the condoms that were distributed were all colored black and that both Indian men and women refused to use them because of that reason. Why? Black in India has connotations with lack of desirability, evil, negativity, and inertia. It represents anger and darkness and is associated with the absence of energy, barrenness, and death.
