I agree with both of you allan and ootadabun. We need someone who has strong believe in their religion and act in accordance to their beliefs. We do not need someon to preach from the podium, but we need someone who can heal this country and bring the aethist in under the concept of the founding fathers. The founding fathers did not force religion on anyone and this country was formed under religious persecution from European countries. The founding fathers felt the government was to be formed to protect the rights that God granted us. We have to someone who is tolerable of all believes and does not cave to the pressure of a small group.

Currently, Congress and others are trying to weed out God in every form that represents government on any level. We need to heal the country and show the tolerance once again.

Representatives are currently elected for a 2 year term, so I agree with your assessment of allowing only 12 years to be served in each house. If the people think you are worthy enough to serve the state, you have an opportunity of making a 24 year career out of it. This would allow for changes to occur and keep everyone in check when they vote on laws, because they can never place themselves above the law again when they become a private citizen again.

It is never to late Average_Joseph. We need to amass in a peaceful way and show the DC folks that we mean business. This means we need to be informed as loca73 mentioned as well as start a new political party that holds the principles and values of this project and our founding fathers dear. Instead of sending money to the political parties we have, we need to start a new party by contributing to the individuals from each state that are willing to take our message to the masses. In a short week, this website has grown by leaps and bounds. The message is being heard. We need to get organized and start something new. DC works for us, as I currently work for you as a correctional officer, and we need to hold everyone accountable for their actions and the oath they swore to when they took office. We have to appoint well spoken individuals who are educated and can communicate to the average person. Make things simple and easy to understand. We need to get back to basics.

The voting system of America needs to be updated. The reason for the electoral college being used in the early years of our country was to allow for the states to count the votes and have a caucus decide who gets the votes of the state determined by the masses. Either we need to go directly to the popular vote or allow the state electoral votes be split among the candidates depending on the percentage of popular vote for each candidate. This would break up the votes of New York and California making the candidates earn each vote from every state to determine who wins. I know that California's 50+ electoral votes could get split almost down the middle. Wouldn't this make for each vote to count. I know when I vote in California, my vote will not go to the candidate I vote for, because the votes are all or nothing for a candidate.

Changes need to occur in the system to allow for voters votes to actually mean something.

I know your frustration. It has become so bad that if you had to ask someone at a drive thru for directions to a location in town, you would not be able to understand the directions unless you spoke Mexican Spanish(Spanish is not what Mexicans speak, but a loose translation of Spanish and native language of Mexican). I feel English needs to be voted into the Constitution as our National Language. I know that if I moved to Germany, Russia, or China, I would learn the native language, even though I may be able to get by speaking English.

I agree with you, eaglesden. My dad immigrated here in 1960 with his family from the Netherlands and was held back several years to learn English. I am for immigration to America by following the laws. Since my dad came to this country, I once thought about becoming a teacher here in California, but with all the liberal requirements that one must follow makes it impossible to focus on the teaching of the students without upsetting the NAACP or the ACLU, I decided not to teach. I think we need to have a national language of English as well and if you want to speak more languages at home, please do so. I feel that if the unions and Congress quit trying to raise wages above the means of the company to pay, the company will be able to pay a prevailing, competitve wage. No one is going to want to work for pennies on the dollar, but why should one company be forced to pay the wages of the competitor down the road when the company cannot afford to pay the wages without laying off other workers.

I agree with you Nancy. What has occurred over the years in this country is the believe that the Constitution is a living, breathing document. It is not. The Constitution is not up for interpertation of what political views the court, politicians, and others may have in regards to the Constitution. There is an Amendment procedure that has not been used since 1992 when an Amedment was passed to limit pay increases for the crooks in DC. Congress only likes to use the Constitution when it seems appropriate to them and shreds it (like Glenn illustrates each night) like it was yesterdays irrevelant memo on today's meeting. We need to hold Congress responsible for their actions.

Tony, you are absolutely correct. What I would like to see take over for the tax law is the consumption tax. If you have not looked at the Fair Tax Law that is being proposed, I would suggest a quick review of the law at www.fairtax.org. I would like to see Glenn do a special on the book and the authors of the book. It has been a year or so since I have seen the gentlemen on the Fox News channel and I think that reexposure of this law right now could spur change in DC. What I would like to see for term limits in Congress is 2 terms for a Senator, 6 terms for a representitive since they are reelected every 2 years. If the individual does their job well, they can make a 24 year career in DC and retire, just like any other profession, instead of dying in the Chambers, using oxygen in the chambers as they nap when debates occur, etc.

Judge, I am in agreement with you, but the name of the party would have to be different than the conservative party. To many liberal republicans would think that they would fall under that category. The party would have to be based along the movement. The title of the party could be as simple as the COMMON SENSE PARTY. Common sense dictates that if you cannot afford a program that the program gets placed to the side or cuts in other areas occur if there is a need to trim the fat to sponsor the program. If a project is good enough for one part of the country, why not for the whole country? Instead of sneaking in pet projects, debate the projects and see if it would be worthy for the whole country.

I agree with you Pointman. We need to form a true second party in this country, just not one that has smoke and mirrors that claim to be the other when they are all wolves in sheep clothing. The issue to start a new party is the power that lobbyist and others have over the election process in every state. It would be extremely difficult for someone who has started as grassroots with little capital to be elected or even run against those entrenched in politics. I get frustrated and wish I could run, but being a current employee of the Federal Government, I cannot run for office that has political ties. Many people who are elected into office come from money or political ties. We need new fresh ideas based on common sense. We need to operate on a balanced budget, provide the appropriate amount of service with a sense of keeping costs down, while keeping taxes down as much as possible. I am not sure how many people could do it, but it needs to be done.
