This is a private project, not a city one. The city is involved because it has to give the organizers the OK to put the pianos on public sidewalks. Here's a story from last month with more info http://is.gd/elB5l

The city did not remove the Magic Bus from its old site.The landowners did. When Magic Bus found a new site nearby, the city then said it needed a temporary-use permit but denied the permit. Here's a link to a story about opposition to where Magic Bus wanted to go. http://is.gd/efS9X

I was the reporter on this story. While Daise acknowledged that she owed some back rent, she said Regency was asking for money from a few years ago that she doesn't believe she owes. I should written that she owes some back rent but disputes the amount Regency claims is due.

I apologize for leaving out that fuller explanation.

To clarify, residents have complained for years about the conditions of the park. But without housing or rental codes, the county, and therefore the Sheriff's Office, has had no recourse. While the sheriff said they're still determining the focus of the investigation, it would seem they'll look at those issues with the titles and back taxes. Those are new accusations, as far as I'm aware.

The developers said it's because of the north-south runway at the airport, which is a couple of miles, maybe a bit less, south of downtown.
