Yeah, isn't it funny how many people voted for "change" by voting for president and completely forgot that they were voting the same morons back into Congress?
I agree, the whole Bush blame game is kinda old, now. Let's start getting mad at the people who are actually in power. You know, those guys and gals who are trying so very hard to chip away at the Constitution, the most important document next to the Bible, imho.

SARKOZY:
''Let us rebuild capitalism in which credit agencies are controlled and punished when necessary, where transparency ... replaces opaqueness. We can do this on one condition, that we all work together in our globalised world.''

OBAMA:
Of course. But, why stop there? Let's control (and leave the option of punishing on the table) all the other companies that are too big to fail. And, heck, the people as a whole are too big to fail. So, let's control and punish them, too. Here's a crazy idea: We can control how much energy they use and punish them for using too much! We can even give them rewards for doing what we say.

Funny how hard it is to get a politician, especially a liberal, to answer a "yes" or "no" question. It reminds me of when we were kids and we did something bad. Our parents would call us inside and asks us a question, but getting a simple "yes" or "no" was about as hard as getting Bill Clinton to answer an "is" question.
Wonder what that says about 'em?

Just wanted to say, that quote is from Ron Paul. Just so credit's given where credit's due. He's right half the time, so he deserves credit when he is...and, when he's not.
But, going back to the bankruptcy subject. Correct me if I'm wrong (I mean that!), but shouldn't all of these companies have died, so to speak? Shouldn't the stock market have fallen? Wasn't it over-inflated, over-valued to begin with? Wasn't it only a matter of time, as per the economy's life cycle, before it "burned", like a phoenix, only to rise again from its own ashes?
If all the answers are "Yes", and I believe, perhaps mistakenly, that they are, then what the administration and Capitol Hill are doing is just propping up an artificial structure. Basically, they're trying to keep a falling structure from, well, falling. If that's true, then they are only dragging out the recession. And, once they've finished spending all their trillions to save it, the house will simply start falling again.

When I read the paper, now, I'm so flabbergasted that it borders on complete existential confusion! The world has most assuredly turned itself upside down...Or, did we do that?
"When a company operates at a loss, it is a signal that it is decreasing the value of its resources or letting out-of-control costs outstrip any value it has created. A company operating at a loss is therefore an engine of wealth destruction. Bankruptcies are a net positive for the economy because more productive competitors are rewarded by opportunities to buy up remaining assets at bargain prices to strengthen their operations."-I agree
The government has no business bailing these companies out, in the first place! Mr Obama, you have NO business dangling our money (when I say "our", I'm not including any politicians, by the way) over the head of cash starved companies for the purpose of advancing your agenda.
How much longer 'til the government decides it's ALL too important to leave to the grotesque absurdity that is...was...capitalism? The government have taken a step onto a slippery slope and they don't seem to be showing any signs of stepping back.

Now, this will make about as much difference in energy supplies, usage and cost as those eco-friendly light bulbs you have in your kitchen. The only thing this will show is that people are like sheep (only less useful, since you can at least eat and wear actual sheep).
So, I propose we make tonight's Earth Hour our own! Tonight at 8:30 turn on every light in your house, do those dishes, bake a chicken, fry an egg, watch some tv, listen to the radio, turn on your computer and do some laundry.

By the way, tonight is Earth Hour. You see, tonight at 8:30 you're supposed to turn off all the lights in your house, as if you were a Londoner during the blitz. Only this time, the Germans aren't the ones dropping bombs and your house should be fairly safe tonight...as long as you don't live in the New Orleans metro area, in which case your house is always in danger. What's going to happen, if I understand correctly (I'm afraid I don't speak eco-nazi liberalese, so I think there's a lot lost in the translation) is that an expected 1 billion (read: couple hundred thousand) half-wits are going to turn off all the electrical appliances in their over-valued houses, thus sending a message to our leaders that, yes, we are the stupid idiots who put you in office and you can rest assured we'll keep electing you while wearing our "Change" buttons.

Ann Coulter has a nice opinion piece on this at townhall.com. Basically, she remarks on the Dem strategy of affiliating the conservatives with Wall Street while taking more money from them and then, um (how do I put it delicately), paying them back.. It's a beautiful relationship, akin to the flower and the bee. I understand the weakness in the analogy. Obviously, the bee doesn't pass the pollen around and then tell everyone else the wasps are in bed with the flowers. However, I submit to you, friends, that were bees unevolved enough to be liberals they might very well develop such a strategy.

I agree with you 100%. I never miss a chance to bring up politics with anyone I talk to. I can usually even get everyone to agree that things are out of control (not really that difficult)...only to have some propose that government fix the problems they created. I'm still working on being able to discuss politics from a dispassionate position. (Read: discuss politics patiently, without getting too worked up. I pray God can help me work on my patience with liberals: "God, save me from myself.")

Well, I think "really, really innocent" is a bit of a stretch since some have admitted to being trained at terrorist camps. That they never killed anyone could either mean they didn't want to or, seeing as how they were trained at terrorists camps, they didn't get the chance.
