I live in the city where there are networks all around me and my iphone only see about 2 of them (showing 1 bar in each) while my mac sees about 10 of them, including my own. My iPhone simply has no wifi. Also, the amount of developers are very very low. Really, the only "real" apps that you are going to get on cydia, are the ones that are not allowed in the app store.
