Very telling barrie. Well done. It's good to see that your years of belief are now a great asset in your more enlightened times.

Typical repuslive garbage from the brainless! Don't you care about what happened to this little girl? Doesn't it bother you that your god didn't step in to help her when she really needed it? If you really believe in god and his mercy and kindness, don't you think he might have intervened in this case?

This little girl was abused and let down by her parents and other adults around her, all of whom presumably believed in your god. It was time for god to show a little mercy for a change. A chance to show he exists. Unsurprisingly, he didn't do anything for the simple reason that non existance is a major impediment to achieving anything.

Try to learn something from this Debbie. Either god is imaginary or he just doesn't give a shit about believers abusing others. I'd go for the former. It makes a lot of sense.

The judge clearly does believe and therefore should never have been allowed to preside in this case. Look at what he said:

" Think about Kara and what God wants you to learn from this."

"God probably works through other people, some of them doctors."

This is totally outrageous! I can't believe that these people got off so lightly. Once again, children are the victims of religious looneys. Disgraceful.

"Its amazing, they say: "we want world domination" and people laugh and say "don't we all".
You say "they want world domination" and immediately there are screams of Islamophobe. "

Well said gsw!!!

Well said Gordon and more or less what I was about to say myself.

I was driving along the motorway yesterday through roadworks and spotted three guys working at the side of the road (ok, one was working and the other two were watching but I think that counts as working for these guys). Two of them were wearing hard hats, and there is no way anyone can get away without them on sites these days...unless of course you're like the third guy - a sikh - wearing a turban. It's just plain wrong. If one of the other guys was to decide not to wear his hard hat, he'd be disciplined or possibly even face losing his job, but...if you have crazy dress code due to crazy beliefs - that's ok.

As you said Gordon, this woman went out of her way to try to gain compensation, apparently even lookng for backpay for a job she never had and of course "compensation for emotional pain and anxiety”. I hope this company stands it's ground. She should look for a job that suits her.

What if we were to cross a cat with a pig? That would really get to them!

No Ivan, I hadn't looked at the actual story itself and I'm amazed and dismayed to find that she is now going to mass again. She is actually giving support to this evil organisation and watering down what should be the effect of the story. It will give catholics who read about this, reason to keep the faith because they'll see that she doesn't hold the catholic church responsible. It's just unbelievable how gullible people can be!

Agreed Stoney. I was sort of hoping that the whole point was to make a point about the kind of thing that is happening re the second story, but I have to admit that I'm at a loss to see how this is being achieved. Maybe time will tell or maybe it's just that the force is not with me yet.

If he is doing it for that reason, like you I'm right behind him. If not - if he's serious - FFS!!!

I had to learn the catechism at school too, and it was one of the things that really put me off religion. I was very young of course, but I could still think to some degree and realised that there was just something wrong with this.

I also remember as a teenager, when my father didn't like how I was behaving and suggested that I re-learn it. Itold him what I thought of it and he just stood there - flabberghasted - unable to think of what to say. Probably a combinatoin of rage and disbelief, or maybe he was just trying to work out which directoin he should run to escape the impending lighting bolt destined to arrive at any second. It never came of course.

Re the wee free church. Did you see these guys out protesting at the ferry sailing from Lewis a month or so back? They were out on a Sunday protesting that the ferry was sailing on a Sunday because no one should be doing anything on a Sunday. What fuckin morons! They'll be dammed to hell now I should think. Best thing for them.
