End the TSA and let the airlines provide their own security at a level that satisfies the most number of customers. That' would be the democracy of the market rather than the tyranny of the police state.
Boy, there are some statements made here that show a complete misunderstanding of my attitude toward the homeless and the panhandlers on the corner. I never give handouts to a sign-holder on the corner simply because I know absolutely nothing about that person -- is he really homeless? will the money I give him go to alcohol or drugs? I give generously to Food For Lane County, St. Vincent de Paul, and the Eugene Mission because I do care about the truly needy and homeless. I don't interact with the homeless that I pass on the street because I've had a few frightening experiences with some of these people who seem to be psychotic (and besides, I don't stop and interact with any strangers, homeless or not, when I'm going about my business). I feel a lot of compassion for those in such a state of need, especially the veterans that are treated like dirt after serving their country. Don't tell me I have no emotion and my conscience is dead because I just walk by while talking on my cell phone -- that is wrong and insulting.
Paul's message of sound money, bringing the troops home, and getting the government out of our daily lives is crazy? Wow. I hope you all are happy with the status quo.
Before getting all indignant and calling for jail time and fines, I've got to ask just who has been hurt here? No one, obviously.
Protesters? Those aren't protestors.
4 years ago a friend told me if I voted for McCain we'd still be in Afghanistan during the next election. I voted for McCain and my friend was right!
Lots of luck to this fool who has turned his back on all the opportunities being handed to him via a college athletic program. Someday he'll learn that it takes more than just athleticism to succeed.
They want whatever "transpires" to be safe.
That's pretty funny, but anyone offended by someone doing a poor job of making an Oregon 'O' deserves to be offended, ha!
I'm very sympathetic with the Occupy Wall Street movement. People are getting screwed and our standard of living is quickly deteriorating. But the thing that has changed over the last few decades is not corporate greed, but the vast increase in "corporatism" -- where the biggest banks and corporations that have the most lobbyists use government power to strangle competition, get bailouts, and steal our wealth. It is the increase in government power that is the problem. So, yes, we should be on the street protesting, but we need to get educated, too.
