Sounds like maybe he hit his neighbor in the stomach with the hilt/ handle not the blade. Unless he can convince the jury it was self defense, I say take his sword away and dont let him hold anything more dangerous than a wiffle ball bat.

That's government for ya. They confiscate 40 percent of what you earn, waste it on counterproductive bureaucracy, and will throw you in prison and financially destroy you if you don't like it. Then if you ever need help righting a wrong, your just a useless peasant who's out of luck.
If you run a business, pay your employees. They depend on that paycheck to live. If it isnt working out, then cut them loose, but dont ever steal their labor then just not pay them for it.

I see it in the article now. "Others at the residence separated the two, and the girlfriend went to police headquarters to report the incident." So it wasnt just her word against his. He still gets his trial, but it sure makes it a lot easier.

500 texts and phone calls a month for 4 months directly to the student? How many to her parents?
Our kids coaches and teachers called us parents for school issues or to tell us about athletic practice schedules. Most of the time they just sent a paper home with all the kids at once through the school office.
Calling or texting a kid directly might of happened once in a while but it would have been very rare.
