I believe the sanctuary cities get away with not enforcing immigration laws by using the arguement that "it is not in the state or city's rights to enforce federal law". This is the reasoning being used by Obama and Holder to sue Arizona. I don't know why Gibbs couldn't think of this.

I know! We should be spending more! That's how you get out of a bad recession! There are actually places we could cut military spending without hurting our ability to defend ourselves. We have over a hundred military bases around the world right now outside of Iraq and Afghanistan.
