A "green light to a new stampede of special interest money in our politics." These are the exact types of comments that make it so easy to disregard the President. I'd take him more seriously if he'd just give it straight: "Well I'm a Democrat, and we want to keep our Party in power. And we know that the passage of McCain-Feingold helps us stay in power because it will have a greater negative impact in campaign contributions to Republican candidates as opposed to Democrats. This way we are more competitive with our campaign finances. The best part is that we get to pretend we're looking out for the interests of the general public, who will somehow think we are listening to them instead of all the big time liberal special interest groups that spearhead our campaigns like the unions. Being a Democrat is so awesome. You can do all the somewhat shady/underhanded things the Republicans do, but you get PRAISED for it! Ain't America great?"
