GazetteOnline.com : Cedar Rapids traffic cameras have generated over 4,300 citations

I just think we probably have enough cameras in "public" places as it is. I guess I'm the only one who finds it a bit disturbing that I can Google my own address and look at an up to date picture of my house. Like I said, I'm not implying motive here, I'm just saying the POTENTIAL for abuse is a concern. And, as a liberal, I enjoy using illegal drugs in public places, so the cameras will really put a cramp in my social life. Kidding. No, really, I'm kidding.

Listen, folks, I'm to the left of Mao on most issues, and I don't drive, so I don't have a dog in this fight. Am I the only "liberal" who has a problem with this? I mean, I'm not about to put on fatigues and move to Utah, but jeez, people, the government puts up cameras and we're fine with it? "If you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to worry about"?!? Really? I'm not saying there is anything specifically nefarious about C.R.'s use of cameras, but a slippery slope's a slippery slope. I'm still FOR the redistribution of wealth, though. Seriously.

GazetteOnline.com : We’re paying for fraud of climate change

You'll have to forgive me if I fail to shed a tear for poor Alliant Energy. Listen, folks, it doesn't really matter if global warming is man-made or not. Our government is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Corporate America, so your opinion hardly matters. The important decisions about this subject (and pretty much all others) have already been made, as they always are, without our input. Money makes the rules.

Poor Alliant Energy. By the way, you know who really pulled the plug on Grandma? Enron, with their cynically orchestrated "rolling blackouts". Corporate America is a psychopathic criminal, and our "Government" is a wholly-owned subsidiary. I love the so-called "debates" posted here...they almost make me think that anyone's opinion really matters. We're all just a bunch of wage-slaves to our Corporate Masters. Oh, yeah, and there is no God. Almost forgot.

GazetteOnline.com : Choice is simple: Do we want big government?

It constantly amazes me how many people still believe that Corporate America has their best interests at heart, if Gov't would just get out of the way. I work in Corporate America, and I know first-hand that it just ain't so. They'll grind your bones to make their bread. I hate myself more and more every day for being a willing cog in the fascist (look up the word, see its true meaning) machine. Tea partiers proclaim "Power to the people"....yeah, right. It's all a big charade. The "Owners" of this country have all the power, and ALWAYS will. Hard work means nothing anymore. Everything you think you know is a lie.

GazetteOnline.com : Gatens' grit keeps Iowa close in loss at Iowa State

I'm no fan of Lickliter, but it seems to me that one of the Hawks biggest problems goes beyond coaching. We don't have a single player who can get his own shot. We haven't had a guy like that since Pierre Pierce, and we all know how that worked out. Year in and year out, we're reduced to watching guys run the shot clock down to nothing and jack up a desperation three because there isn't one guy who can get to anywhere he wants on the floor. No quickness, no elevation, just a bunch of hustle players. And oh, by the way, not much height, either. One last thing: What this university and its fans and boosters did to Dr. Tom Davis several years ago was a disgrace. You reap what you sow, and will now have to run a third coach in a row out of town on a hot rail.

GazetteOnline.com : Fear religious fanatics at home and abroad

Amazing. Million dollar churches sitting empty and warm all night long, tax-free, as people die freezing in the streets. The Catholic Church prohibits the use of condoms as millions die of AIDS in Africa. Radical Muslims fly planes into buildings, killing 3000 innocent Americans. I've had it with ALL religion. Except maybe Scientology. Just kidding.
