Footballers as a breed frankly disgust me. They are paid obscene amounts of money for carrying out a pointless & non-productive excercise & most of them appear to lack basic intelligence & social skills. As for the so-called 'Wags', 'Slags' would be a far more appropriate description. The sad thing is that so many young people regard them as role models.
If they have a role at all, it is the modern counterpart of ancient Rome's 'Bread & Circuses' i.e. keeping the plebes happy & their minds off the great issues of the day. I was ecstatic to hear that Germany had thrashed this bunch of spoiled, over-privileged, no hopers & drank a bottle of schnapps to celebrate - the hangover was more than worth it. Sack the lot of them, I say, & watch the likes of Rooney revert to ram-raiding off-licences as a natural carrer progression.

Thanks GA. I found the tribute to 3 Rifles particularly moving - was on excercise with them 2 years ago (Joint Warrior 08) & found them a smashing bunch of guys to work with. The fact that we send the best elements of our youth to die in pointless & immoral wars while spoonfeeding & mollycoddling the dross who aren't fit to lick their combat boots has got to be the most stinging indictment of our morally bankrupt & intellectually impoverished so called society.

If you can't take the third world out of the man then the third world is his natural habitat so send the bastard back where he belongs.
