This whole controversy is complete nonsense. The Muppets was a great movie, this idea that there is some left-leaning message is crap from people who haven't seen it. Seriously. Chris Cooper's character is given one line of dialogue for motivation and then it's rarely mentioned again. Not to mention, The Muppets want to defeat Cooper not to put up an ACORN center or something, but to create a thriving, successful business. This movie is massively pro capitalist - the most successful, desirable industry wins.

The problem with this show is the same as that of Terra Nova. They haven't earned the situational distress or the character beats they strive for. Just saying "ZOMBIES!" or "DINOSAURS!" isn't enough for us. Just having a guy make a joke or kiss his wife isn't character development. Before anyone else makes a show like this they should be forced to watch the first few seasons of Battlestar Galactica. Then they can start writing.

It's kind of sad so many people are discrediting this movie just because of their preconceptions regarding Christopher Plummer's gay plotline. I saw this movie, and it was heartfelt, uplifting and really well made and acted. You should do yourself a favor, put away your preconceptions, and just give it a shot.

I have a PS3, so the Blu-Ray player is covered, though I still buy most of my DVDs on standard definition just because they are cheaper and most movies don't register a difference. I say Tree of Life three times in theaters and bought this collection because I NEED to see it again. Also, I use my digital copy for my computer for things like long commutes/plane travel. I can understand where you are coming from, though. It seems nowadays Criterion is the only thing putting out any kind of comprehensive standard format. Also I am looking forward to the 6-hour cut. I already bought the Extended Edition of New World and pray constantly for the original cut of Thin Red Line. I worship at the shrine of Malick.

The Special Features are only on the Blu-Ray copy of the disc. However, you also get a Digital Copy, so for the $25 bucks I spent on it, I got the movie in three different forms: Well worth it, I think.

TREE OF LIFE is incredibly easy to understand. I don't know how, if you haven't seen it, you can claim that anyone else "didn't get" it. It's all right up there on screen.
