Homosexuality and abortion - the liberal sacred cow
At least they're consistent. It's comparisons like this that exposes, what is to me, a truly twisted agenda.
So as a Christian you believe it is ok to indorse sin as long as some other seemingly successful country has?
Good lesson for those who wrongfully believe they are saved. I agree the subtlety of inclusion is far more dangerous than radical opposition to Christ. This is certainly a great weapon of liberalism against the church.
Todd your comment about "post birth abortion" is far more plausible in 2012 than we would ever want to admit. Maybe we should print out Psalm 2 and send it to all political reps in all three branches of our government.
You know that is Romney's problem, he has to woo independents and conservatives
No other context needed Dave. You just miss the point. God sets a law and over the coarse of a thousand years or so the people who received that law turn it into something it's not. They, like yourself, want it to be a moral issue. Jesus didn't even change the law He only pointed out their misinterpretation of it's purpose.
Shellfish can still be unclean, yes but eating it is not a sin. For those who didn't understand, later on in the Book Jesus clears up that misunderstanding when He said it is not what goes into a man that defiles him it is what comes out of his mouth that defiles a man... The point being eating shellfish is not a moral issue and it is not, in the 21st century, arbitrarily excluded as sin.
Dave, when you describe those who base their moral standard from Scripture as "they pick and choose pick which of the Bible's archaic laws are applicable today", you have set up an imaginary opposition so it is easily confuted. That is by definition a straw man. Biblical morality is not illusive. While I agree that some crimes and punishments are relative to time and place morality, what is right and wrong, is static and it is quit clearly expressed in Scripture.
Biblical morality is an absolute and to teach children right from wrong is a parental obligation. Dave, do you intentionally build this straw-man or are you being fooled about by what Scripture commands. You should read it. As for hypocrisy, you need to see the difference between doing something wrong, understanding it is wrong and having a desire to not do it again and, doing something wrong knowing it's wrong but advocating for it so you can continue to indulge in that practice. You see a hypocrite is someone who acts as if they are not wrong when they are. When I sin I have no problem pointing out. Maturity in Christianity is measured by the distance of time between sin and repentance as much as the distance of time from sin to sin.
