Thanks to the KATU News Team this garden probably will get ripped off and KATU will cover it. That is clearly the plan here. Take a shot at medical marijuana and create a crime news story as a bonus.

It is time for the state to step in and control everything planted in citizen's backyards.
For instance, cottonwood trees, anybody caught planting, possessing or cultivating cottonwood trees should be arrested . They spread like crazy, shed huge amounts of fluffy litter and often rot from the center and fall down, sometimes on a house, car or person.

Then there are roses. My neighbor grows roses, there has to be several dozen plants in their yard, I can see the tops of them over the fence. They stink, the smell of roses gives me headaches. Roses are also a hazard due to their thorns. Maybe we could pass laws against cottonwood trees and roses to protect air quality, if nothing else.

Nice job exposing the medical growers to violent criminals. I hope you don't get to follow this one up with one about the potential robbery you just helped set up.

Whether it was a positive isn't the point. Prohibiting alcohol made the problem worse. People continued to drink alcohol, the only difference prohibition made was adding crime and official corruption to the drinking problem.

So should we start a campaign to re-prohibit alcohol nationally ?
How about criminalizing every activity that poses a potential for harm ?
When we start prohibiting where do we stop?

I think we need to be looking for some kind of balance rather black or white answers.

Since alcohol prohibition ended it is rare to hear of illegal distilleries, rum runners and moonshiners. In fact, alcoholic drink production employs tens of thousands, creates tax revenue and is a major export bring wealth to our country.

The way to stop these criminal operations (these two were most certainly that) is to legalize, regulate and tax sales of marijuana. This is something that should be left to the individual states to decide for themselves. The federal government can hardly function as it so it would be best to take the marijuana burden from them and give it to the states.

There will be some sort of legalized marijuana use or there will be illegal marijuana use. Either way there will be people using marijuana. The question is, how much is Washington, or for that matter Oregon, willing to spend fighting an unwinnable battle against marijuana use.

After over 40 years of the Drug War marijuana is more potent and plentiful than ever.

Yeah, kill people that don't drive fast enough to suit your lifestyle. Stupid people trying to drive within their limits shouldn't be allowed to breathe. Speed up, dammit, I'm in a hurry and got lots of bullets.

Forget the scanners, I demand to be fondled by Federal employees. I pay my taxes and want a little something in return.

Shooting Canada Geese at a golf course is almost as sporting as clubbing baby Harp Seals. However, the seal clubbers have to rough it a bit.
