It appears there is absolutely no piece of American life that the Congress is above controlling. These ne'er do wells are too busy trying to stick their noses where they don't belong, rather than dealing with issues of true national importance. I say whether you like them or not, vote the whole House out.

"North Korea using a nuclear bomb would be suicidal"

There are two ways to take that comment. The first is that it would be suicidal because their rockets would fail and the bomb would explode on the launch pad.

The second way to take the comment is that it would be suicidal because the US would respond by bombing the F out of the North. That requires the belief that the US has the guts to do it. I don't believe our current administration has the guts to do it. The last thing this administration wants is confrontation and I don't think they would respond to actual aggression with counteraggression. They only like to call names (see media wars).

When the real crisis comes, we'll see what they're made of.

I don't know, uptownman.... We're certainly not going to bomb them and Israel might or might not. There will be terrible pressure on the Israelis to hold back and depending on the incentives and/or disincentives to act, they might hold back. Iran has a pretty free hand in all this, so it's really their ball game, with all the rest of us sitting back and simply watching.

Couple of points:

1. They only need one bomb. Once that's launched they're not a target for removal, only revenge.

2. We'll take our losses and determine revenge is inappropriate (see Osama bin Laden)

3. Learn to live with drive by bombings, just like every major American city has learned to live with drive by shootings. There is no solution (wink, wink) so trying to stop it is fool's work (wink, wink)

How much sadder can this new administration get before people totally give up on it?

The sad truth is that Obama can't stand on his own. If he doesn't have a Bush ex-presidency to kick around then he's got nothing. He ran against Bush, he won by being Not-Bush, and without Bush, there is Nobama. All he has is that he's not Bush.

I think that we all need to quit comparing the two men. We all know he can't compare to Bush (whether you think highly of Bush or think he's a moron, you have to admit that Obama and Bush are opposites) and let's focus on Obama. We'll leave Bush out of it and see how Obama can do on his own.

Whoopi is just a woman who made some money doing comedy and acting. Her views are about as important to me as a guy laying drunk on the sidewalk - and that goes for most 'celebrities' today. I don't understand why 'ordinary' people care so much about what these people have to say and I don't understand the fascination so many otherwise normal people seem to have with 'celebrity' lives. They're just people doing a job and sometimes getting paid enormous sums of money for doing it. I must be clueless in Arizona.

I have to come down on the side of "it's just a joke - don't get too offended" on this one. Remember Reagan? There was a man who could laugh at what the left found objectionable about him ("They say age is a consideration in this election - I'm willing to accept that my opponent is too young" or something like that).). I know Palin has been raked over the coals along with her family and I don't forgive the libs for one second for doing that, but I think this reference is much more benign, and really typifies what a lib woman would say about a competent woman carrying a gun. I'll give SJP a pass, and recommend my wife see the movie.
