Mile Square View : Mayor appeals to residents in bold initiative for parks in Southwest and beyond

Strong feelings about open space in Hoboken, especially with the number of growing young families. Let's try not to personalize it and call anyone names or escalate into personal attacks on any side. Anyone can express their perspective either way and is encouraged to do so here and with their elected representatives. In the end, that counts most.

Mile Square View : Mayor Zimmer \"We are this close\" to deal on hospital

Yes, did see it later but the last story I saw before the press conference Friday was about Jersey City Medical Center stating they would like to re-enter their earlier bid under some circumstance if it didn't work out with HoldCo. Thanks for your note.

Mile Square View : HUMC status: next update Sunday

In order to encourage bids, the Hospital Authority set up non-disclosure agreements with each bidder. The bidders are permitted to reveal their bid if they so choose, but most would want to keep their information confidential so they do not yield an advantage on other potential bids in the future. P3 the CT firm is believed to have violated the non-disclosure and on the basis of that legal reading, their bid has been discussed in public. They were the next best bidder except they did not have the financing capability to meet the bar they stated, nor did they establish an ability to do so. They are a consulting firm without any history of winning any of these bids to this point and have not of course followed with turning any hospital around. With full knowledge of that Beth Mason was pushing them in public statements AFTER Holdco was in negotiations with the Hospital Authority. She should be put up on charges for that reason alone, but that consideration should only come later after the serious work of saving this hospital is completed. Mason said MSV "seems" to know more about the bids than the council. All she had to do was open her ears and listen to the Hospital Authority's Chairwoman who minutes earlier spelled it out to everyone. Then again, Mason knew all this earlier. She just ignores information she doesn't like so she can repeat the misinformation over and over ad nauseam. See: Hoboken budget surplus.

Mile Square View : 5th ward council candidate Leonard Luizzi: A Sad Day for Hoboken

Take exception with you making some negative remark against "the nuns" running St. Mary's. They did a very good job and don't merit your animosity over one employee salary. The truth is the hospital was put out for bid at that time. Not one offer was received. The hospital will have a seven year commitment and a better future under a bigger umbrella than standing alone. It may not be perfect and nothing is, but at the end of the day the doors will not be closing as too many speculated and stated.

Mile Square View : Who gave the police report on last week\'s City Hall incident to Hoboken411?

Your welcome, you Hypocrite. I don't have a problem with the report coming out, I have a problem with a policy set in place by Chief Falco being disabused by someone, not necessarily in the department. If you attribute this website as having the power to release FBI surveillance tapes well all I can say is thanks. But if you expect me to cry about the truth of Mike Russo coming out in those tapes after his litany of denials, forget it. Glad you are getting some entertainment value. Many others do, but for perhaps different reasons.

You are welcome to your opinions guest and to post them with or without supporting facts. There is no censorship here unlike Hoboken411. You are however encouraged to take a name after a couple of posts and use that as multiple guests posts do get confusing. Your criticism is welcome. However you don't provide any substance to it. As you wish. This website broke the story about Mike Russo's untold story. It also pursued the story and was the ONLY PLACE contacting the authors of The Jersey Sting after his comment that others who said he accepted a bribe were lying. You can also challenge that as you wish. But after a couple of posts a screen name and staying with it is strongly encouraged. Thanks. Da Horse

Mile Square View : Did Beth Mason commit defamation against a city employee?

Fair point guest. But I must reference the public information on the matter. Since neither you nor I were present, we can only go on the facts presented that the incident occurred in City Hall and a number of witnesses were available as part of an ongoing investigation. While the investigation is not available yet, there appears to have been sufficient evidence for the Corporation Counsel to act. If anyone within City Hall acted rashly, they will be held accountable. Suffice to say for the moment all we know at this point is that one person allegedly committed simple assault on another. That looks to be the reason for the actions taken to this point based on the police charge. Your conclusion this occurred without the Administration knowing what is true is speculative. I'm not speculating in concluding that over hours in review they did draw that conclusion based on available evidence. Now a third party is reviewing the case as well. Thanks for raising the question as it's a fair one to consider from the public eye.

Mile Square View : Assemblyman Ruben Ramos: \'Forget anti-wheeling, show me the money\'

Hey Dan, thanks for your comment. I'll make a few comments in response to yours as it's the holiday weekend and things will pick up after. Yes, Dawn Zimmer's allies have now been voted in across the Hoboken Democratic Committees. What they have done and Ravi Bhalla who is chair mentioned this in City Council Wednesday was do away with using the party as a vehicle to funnel tens of thousands into town funding candidates. Those funds typically have not identified the donors. Michelle Russo, wife of convicted felon and ex-mayor Anthony Russo was paid tens of thousands herself and also more than that to her husband. He received $85,000 that way in a single day. She led the fight to keep the Democrat Committee in town under her control. That my friend is the Machine. Ramos and his Machine are the State and control a lot of levers of power including a hefty rampant use of PACs to gain leverage over elections at all levels. They intimidate opposition using such weapons to overwhelm opposition and the grassroots here in Hoboken. This came up in the City Council Wednesday night too. Former mayor Dave Roberts was able to marshall a million dollars from that State machine to control the mayor's office. His literature was so rampant it was all over people's homes and the streets for weeks. There was nothing like it and it was the Machine behind it. Who was behind it and what did that money buy? We don't know because the money is not identified by donor. That my friend is The Machine. Dawn Zimmer is at odds with Brian Stack because his vessel in Hoboken is Ramos, a Machine politician. Beth Mason has tried to make an alliance with him. Not sure how effective that is today. Not likely to have changed since Brian Stack and Ramos were behind Occhipinti. There was a ton of money from outside of Hoboken brought in for Occhipinti. He got a lot of Cammarano money from former Cammarano backers outside of Hoboken to get him money to pay off his 550 plus 'campaign workers' re: voters, almost half his votes. (Criminal referrals from the County prosecutor's office went to the State Attorney General and is under review.) That my friend is the Machine. Efforts to limit these PACs pouring money into Hoboken is being fought strenuously by Beth Mason, Mike Russo, Terry Castellano, Nino Giacchi with fanatical support from Tim Occhipinti for obvious reasons. The Machine in the form of Ruben Ramos is trying to deceive people from that truth even raising red herrings about self-funding on campaigns. Developers are making threats if they don't get their way. They have used PACs to fool the public before and will do so again. (Google New Frontiers and Burlington NJ.) That my friend is the Machine. The mayor doesn't have a lot of blogs behind her. She has people fighting for the same things as her. That's the difference. And that my friend is the difference between us and The Machine. Okay Dan, thanks for the comments. Keep it coming and have a great weekend.

Mile Square View : Employee Press Policy raises questions, drives Mike Russo nuts

Dan, thanks for your detailed critiqued. If you wish for me to reply, I will but I'd prefer to allow others to weigh in pro and con as they see fit. My take on this was after a review of the actual document and maybe the fastest post of a story ever, literally in about 10 minutes in one draft. My view is best practices are applicable to government employees as in private industry IMHO irrespective of where the legislation originated: in this case Camden and Bridgeton. If I felt your criticism was accurate in limiting free speech I'd agree. This doesn't limit personal free speech, but it does limit speech in the capacity of speaking for the city of Hoboken. Apparently, there's been statements completely off the mark three time in recent months and it's clearly problematic and leaving the city open to litigation. It was highlighted tonight in City Council and the Corporation Counsel spelled it out. It does not preclude whistle blowers but it does stop people from speaking on behalf of the city when they shouldn't. The example I cited with the Finance Department is true. And the denial on my request three times preceded this policy, just for the record. If you are critical of my take, you are more than welcome to do so. Feel free to unload as you like and you certainly took time to delineate your position and agree or disagree, that's always welcome. Best, Da Horsey

The Hoboken Journal : Holiday Season Gift Giving (Vote Buying) from the Mason Russo Axis of Obstruction

Well let me post a correction. It wasn't just Beth Mason and Mike Russo but the funding for this "project" also extends to Tim Occhipinti based on additional reports. It's not news in the sense of handing out plants year end but the manner in how this is done certainly makes it newsworthy. Although you don't see much digging locally, they are just now catching up to the massive problems surfacing in Tim Occhipinti's campaign even as criminal referrals sit on the NJ Attorney General's desk. It's the times we live in and we do live in the Soprano State. Feel free to post a comment on MSV or email and will happily detail more as you like.
