Great clarification... I like it, though the position of fascism on the left is not what I'm used to, I now understand how you've come to place it there. Bondage vs. Liberty - that is how you are formulating your spectrum? I like the way you've set that up, though you really take it far beyond the simple ''political'' spectrum of radicals on the left and reactionaries on the right... I think another good way of explaining your system is that on your left, you have positioned those who believe Utopian dream of the ''perfect society'' created by MAN - but to achieve that dream of course requires absolute control (bondage) your right then understands that the only way to better society is to allow the maximum amount of individual liberty, and that Thomas Moore was dead on with the name Utopia...
You left to then would be those who would either deny God, or those who would usurp God and assume that only the state - so the Soviet Union is in the same place as theocratic Iran

I will concede ONE point to B-666 - our government, through both Democratic and Republican administrations, has done a miserable job supporting our vets! Oh, wait - our top notch VA hospitals have exposed thousands our lucky veterans a fine selection of blood-born pathogens (here's your hep-b, with a dash of HIV on the side.) Sadly appropriate that happened during colonoscopies!
Ancillary to the woeful treatment of our vets is the way both the VA and the military treat mental health issues.... I just came to me that the DHS might just have a point about a threat from veterans - and I know whate side I'd be on if it comes to that! I suppose you might want to think that the idea of a political right and left is ''just propaganda that landed in textbooks...'' because the concept does indeed come from textbooks and history books.... After the French Revolution the left -right concept was simply the seating arrangement of the legislature, ie. the Jacobins sat on the left and the royalist on the right (I don't remember if it first developed in the National Constituent Assembly or the Legislative Assembly)

I've read far too many Obama-Hitler analogies here and on other sites - all I can say about most is that they show shockingly little scholarship and demonstrate gross ignorance of history -save for the most superficial ''he wants our guns... just like Hitler'' for God's sake! I am pretty sure that you and I are pretty close in our politics... but where the hell did you come by your concept of the ''political spectrum?'' Your classifications, I'm afraid, are just plain wrong. Totalitarianism is on BOTH ends of the political spectrum (in fact it curves in on itself, so both left and right totalitarianism have much in common. Libertarianism? It is certainly neither on the left nor the right (OK, here is where I'm making MY own definition!) Libertarianism is ABOVE the spectrum; it puts the emphasis not on how much the state can interfere with our lives, but rather how the state is obliged to protect OUR liberties (remember Locke's Life, Liberty, Property)

Good question - but Hitler DID act like himself & had anyone bothered to read Mein Kampf before he came to power, he outlined his plans pretty damned clearly! As for Obama? What has Obama actually written or said that leads people to think that his goal is to become an American dictator? As far as I can determine, his goal is to create in this nation a garden-variety European style cradle to grave social democracy... as much as I hate that idea, and as much as I DETEST what Obama stands for, I just can't see him as a Hitler - a Clement Atlee sure, but certainly not a Nazi. Obama is a collectivist - just like every other damned social democrat. But wait, isn't the state pushing its way more and more control over the economy?? Again, that is right out of the European Social Democrat playbook. Of course, YOU could be right (and to that end I have bought a few more guns and a whole bunch of ammunition,) but I just can't see it happening - at least by him, but after him will come the flood; he is creating conditions for a massive reaction - I hope that it will set our Republic back to its true course, but I do fear that as a result of Obama, we won't get his social democracy - rather we will CHOOSE a form national socialism.

As a final note - With so many people here calling Obama another Hitler, how many really know anything at all about the Nazi party and its dogma? I'm betting it pretty damn few. Hitler took away guns to prevent violence against his regime... Obama and all the anti-gun folks (thanks Mrs. Brady) want to take our guns for our own good... Hitler saw the German people as his subjects, subservient to HIS will alone, while the asses on the left in this country see us as children in need of protection... get the difference?

That we will be hit again is almost a certainty, and I am afraid that ICE and the DHS will hold open the golden door for our executioners. Remember, our national interest is of no concern to Obama (hell, that's been a thread present in varying degrees in American international relations since Woodrow Wilson.) To the 'progrssive' its all about international relativity and American Exceptionalism is a taboo subject (unless of course we are exceptionally bad)
