Good question. The information on this post is meant to highlight Contra Costa Energizer Stations. The title was edited to make that distinction. Thanks for your comment!

The electric charging units at Stanwell Drive in Concord are for county fleet vehicles only. It looks like the app has been updated to indicate that they are not available to the public.

Joseph, We don't know of a hard date for closure but as of today it is open and should be for another week. We'll provide an updated date when we know of one.

Great question Phil. Here's some information about the asphalt/concrete replacement from the Caltrans I-680 Pavement Rehabilitation and Southbound HOV Lane Extension Construction FAQs http://www.dot.ca.gov/dist4/680ccrehab/

It would be ideal to replace all damaged pavement with concrete material because of its long term performance, but it is an expensive material. The condition of the existing freeway pavement at the northern portion of the project (Diablo to Rudgear) has deteriorated to the point where it is no longer feasible to consider extensive concrete replacement because of the cost. The recommendation is to crack the existing concrete pavement to provide a suitable foundation for the rubberized asphalt overlay.
The condition of the existing concrete freeway pavement is significantly better at the southern portion of the project (Alcosta to Diablo) and it is cost effective to do spot replacement of damaged pavement slabs with concrete material.

Greg, Thanks for the comment. Tunnel crews stopped work on the bench on the western end of the tunnel earlier this month to enable them to resume work on the top heading in this area. Work on the bench will resume the week of November 7. Be sure to check out the Caldecott Tunnel Trivia game for this week's Quiz and a chance to win $10 Peet's card compliments of 511 Contra Costa.
