Ok, I downloaded iPhone1,2_3.1.2_7D11_custom_Restore.ipsw for my 3g iphone. I downloaded it from gsmhosting it is 306 MB. Is that about right for a custom ipsw and can this site can be trusted. Finally, if yes do I just put my phone in DFU mode and shift-restore in iTunes and I am golden? Thanks for any info in advance.

Thanks for the replies, if I had known it would have saved me for reloading all of my apps, music, etc. Thanks again.

I had to restore my iphone 3g and rejailbreak it because Icy was causing Cydia all kinds of problems. Is it ok to have both Rock and Cydia on at the same time. Or is it best to just have like say Cydia only. Because I know that Icy and Cydia at the same time are a no go.

I was also having problems with blackra1n and I went to youtube to see "How to fix blackra1n jailbreak problems" and now I am jailbroken.

I downloaded iPhone1_2_3.1.2_7D11_VTX_v1_Restore just wondering if that is the correct one for a iphone 3G. Then just shift restore in iTunes and then I should be golden? And, no DFU mode?

I have a 3G iphone at 3.1.2 firware. I tried to use blackra1n to jailbreak my phone, but no go. I am a windows user so my question is do I have to go the custom firmware route and shift restore in iTunes to jailbreak my phone. And, if so, where can I download a trusted custom firmware.

Well, I just rejailbroke my phone. Be careful on what you delete from Cydia ;)

i did, apparently when I tried to remove a theme I downloaded, I came across part of the theme to remove it from Cydia, but it said that a force removal would or could be bad for the operation of the phone, I still pressed to remove it, but now no more cydia.

No Cydia? If I don't have Cydia anymore, on my jailbroken phone, what do I do rejailbreak? Phone works and I am still jailbroken but no Cydia.
