Personally, my favorite aspect of RPGs is the leveling up, and not just leveling up, but seeing my stats go up. It always gives me a sense of progress and accomplishments. I love when this feature is implemented into other videogame genres such as puzzle games and action games.
I really hope NIS can pull themselves together. They've been releasing way too many games, like 3-4 every 2ish months. I tend to buy a majority of NIS games, but this is becoming ridiculous. Hopes that they find their limit as well.
Atlus really knows how to drain a person's wallet, don't they? haha
Wow, I was having a conversation like this with my brother earlier today. We were talking about how games always give you these really good items (like the mega-elixar) and how we never use it. I always save them for when I need it, but find myself never needing to use them. I guess this type of hoarding shows how I am afraid to take the easy way using limited (but successful) means, but instead take the more casual path. I have the chance to use the mega ether or mega elixar, but always back away and use a mega potion or some other form. Gaming just became a gateway to personal understanding haha.
Just a thought, but I think the reason we have lost immersion lately is the acceptance of videogames nowadays. Before a videogame helped those who were not inclined in other areas; a place to escape, such as the way books or art or music does. I believe this feeling allowed many of us to become emotionally attached to the characters, settings, and stories. Now that games are more accepted in modern day, we kind of lose the imaginations (possibly due to the developers trying to make games pleasing to everyone as well) we once held with older games.
Revival seems to really take the fun out :/ But I can see myself having one of these as a good back up unit.
Whoa, Ashley Davis interview! Huge fan of her work, as well as her husband's. Great interview Roy. Can't wait to get my copy of black and white.
As many have said: Happy 3 year Anniversary. You're almost out of your Toddler stages!
Also, I took a listen to Black Materia the other day, and was really impressed. Not being a rap/hip hop fan, I came in thinking "What is this going to sound like?" But ended up enjoying it a lot. Hopefully I can win myself a copy, but even if I don't, I will probably be buying this.
So much good news! I'm so excited for Disgaea 4, and will probably be ordering one of those adorable prinny hats.
Oh wow, it sounds like it'll be pretty sweet. Also being a fan of Demon's Souls, I'll be anxiously waiting for news on this game.
