I find CS Cart is really a pleasure to develop with--as far as shopping carts go. They are, by their nature, complicated, but the developers at CS Cart have really made an effort to architect the thing well, and as simply as possible.
Let me know a little more about your company/site.

I was also told about a cart running off of Drupal, and I should also check that out at some point.

I've not had any perceived issues with slowness in CS Cart.

I want to know more about Magento, but so far, CS Cart is the winner. I would like to do some load tests to see about performance, but it sure seems good to me.

I want to learn how to do this better, as well -- even if it means a process that lasts a few hours, rather than a few weeks. It's the 80/20 approach - what can I get in there to make their project better?
I'd be interested in more on this topic, if you'd be interested.
