I don't know what I just watched, but I think Sakuraba is confused that Jason Miller is more into Japanese quirkiness than he is. If there was a person born to compete in front of Japanese fans, it's Mayhem.

Because for all intents and purposes, Jon Jones dominated Hamill and won. He lost because of a downward elbow because the ref wasn't stopping, and Jon Jones kept changing up his GnP strikes hoping the ref would jump in and stop it. Hamill got the official win, but no one really considers that a loss for Jon.

Yeah, it was against Alexander Emilianenko in a kick boxing match.

Absolutely. If he's going to keep fighting strikers, he needs to work on boxing and checking leg kicks.

If he wants to keep fighting, and fans want to keep seeing him fight, let him. If there's no medical reason to stop, I don't see why he should stop competing if he isn't concerned about losing to nobodies. He's said on many occasions that he doesn't care about his legacy, so if he just wants to continue to compete, let him. It's not like he's talking about making a run at a title (that I'm aware of), but the worst thing an athlete can do is retire before they're ready, because they'll eat themselves up inside for the rest of their lives wondering how long they could have gone on for.

I have no desire to watch Ken fight anymore, but if he wants to finish his career fighting tiny shows for chump change, then fine. It's just his own legacy he's killing, and at this point he's driving it into the ground pretty good.

While I agree with you, and really don't like Josh Barnett all that much, I think he's going with the all other things being equal, what's the deciding factor. Apparently one inch. As long as Brock watches a lot of the Any Given Sunday Al Pacino speech going into the fight, he's going to exploit as much as possible.

My bad. I think I had originally meant to write something to the effect that for the same reason small joint manipulation is barred, which is why I separated it into two separate clauses. Who knows though, I am a dumbass, so it's just as possible that I don't know the difference between a wrist lock and a finger/toe lock. In any case, they're barred for the same reason--not enough time to tap out before your opponent can break the joint.

No, you're right. Small joint manipulation is barred from competition.

Watched this one while sitting next to Jason MacDonald and Jamie Varner's family. His brother went ape shit when he got kicked in the nuts the third time, his mom crumpled when she noticed he had broken his hand, and were crazy-animated when it was announced a draw. Quote of the night would go to his mom when he got kicked in the nuts the second time, and she stood up and yelled at Shalorus, "Quit kicking my son in the balls, I want grand kids some day!" Jamie Varner has one of the greatest families in MMA.

Awesome, awesome card.
